123 People from the Affected Areas Have Been Rescued by the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara​

Wednesday, 08/February/2023


1. The Indonesian Embassy in Ankara, led directly by the Indonesian Ambassador, arrived at the earthquake area on 7 February 2023 at 21.30 TRT, after traveling by land for about 17 hours (under normal conditions around 5-6 hours). Due to blizzard weather conditions with temperatures around 4 to -7 degrees.
2. The Indonesian Embassy in Ankara, consisting of the Consular Team for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens, the Defense Attache Team and Perbinlu (BIN officials) have evacuated from the 4 points most affected by the earthquake. The number evacuated was 123 people from the original target of 104 people; this includes 2 Malaysian citizens and 1 Myanmar citizen.
3. 1 Indonesian citizens (Ayu Fira) and 2 of her children in Hatay who were declared unable to be contacted yesterday, have been found and are safe.

4. Two Indonesian citizens (Indonesian marrying with Turkish citizen in the name of Nia Marlinda) from Bali and her one- year-old child (Indonesian) and husband of a Turkish citizen in Kahraman Maras were found dead because they were buried under the rubble. Colonel Amir, Defense Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara, who led the Evacuation Team to Kahramanmaras, has confirmed the funeral of the deceased and the Indonesian Embassy has communicated this to the family of the deceased. The deceased and family will be buried today in Kahramanmaras.

5. Regarding the 2 Indonesian citizens working as spa therapists who have the status of "not yet contactable" in Dyarbakir, the Evacuation Team led by Kombes Budi Wardiman is still conducting ongoing tracking while evacuating 20 Indonesian citizens in Diyarbakir and Malatya.
6. Regarding the news in Fajar Daily which reported that an Indonesian citizen had died in Gaziantep, the Evacuation Team in Gaziantep had conducted a search. The information giver who claimed to be an Indonesian citizen in Gaziantep on behalf of Vivi Haryono was not in the data for Indonesian citizens in the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara and was not known to the Indonesian public in Gaziantep. Meanwhile, the reporter/editor of Harian Fajar who reported this did not answer the confirmation request sent by the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara. Because of this, the status of this news is “unverified”.
