The longer they stay in Turkey, the less they want to go away. That is a lesson European countries has learned since 90's

So for EU it was important to keep refugees in Turkey.

Incompetent politicians who has never experienced refugee problems won't know about the issues that follow.
those refuges also learn Turkish language, it will help Turkey to make good relations in the future if there is any new country in Syria..

I am not so sure about that. Those who are entrepreneurs already meshed into society. So the ones in the refugee camps are in stasis, their life has been frozen so question is what do they look forward to, going home to nothing, or to YPG held territory ? Trust me daily politics in EU is about corona, and export, not Turkey, syria, libya or refugees. The sanctions were not even mentioned in danish press, more the budget and polands standpoint on accepting the budget.

They let us handle the dirty laundry and slap sanctions on us.

Agree with Saithan, sanctions didnt even make the news in Germany. Dont let our filter bubble mislead us. There were more reports and time on TV today about Covid19, the new climate goals of the EU or even Brexit (still).

There is plenty of "refugees" from iran, pakistan, morroco, afganistan that could use good will of turkish state for transit, syrian people anyway does not deserve that kind of manipulation, they really are people in nèed.

We are in economic crisis

Tourism is one of the fastest way we can get foreign currency to our country

Allowing gaming industry (casinos, gambling etc.) for tourists is one of the fastest way to make few billions in tax income. If its too much for the current government they could only allow foreign passports to gamble.

Conservative policies of the political parties damage tourism potential. Banning gambling was dumb. Having few casinos, gaming and entertainment etc. locations can create jobs, greatly improve property development in touristic cities etc.

Is there any clue whether casino industry is doing good or what? Casinos require human interaction and is no different from other tourism in that regard. And there is online alternative to it.

Casinos are arguably bad because betting is an addiction, but thousands of Turks go to Georgia every year go gamble. Legalizing it would keep the money in Turkey.

Also there were numerous reports last year that companies were lobbying to open up an island in the Marmara area for gambling. Especially Chinese tourist love to gamble abroad.

Here I found it:

True strict control would be a good solution, just like in KKTC

As always with any bad thing, stopping people from doing it is not going to work. Make it legal, control it and tax it. Whether its drugs, prostitution or gambling.

I am absolutely against gambling as it is an awful thing in any way and is a business that is mostly being run by shady people and organizations yet it should be legalized and strictly controlled by the authorities.

Some parts of the gambling business are already legal in Turkey anyways- lotteries, sports betting, horse races etc so why not just chose a few exclusive spots in Turkey where operating casinos would be legal and start making money for the treasury.

For example one such spot in the Eastern Black Sea region where not only Turkish gamblers that go to Georgia now would spend their money AT HOME but also much of the Arab tourists visiting the region will do it too.

A spot or two on the Mediterranean coast, on the Aegean, around the Marmara and Thrace etc. You won’t save the economy with that but you can create an industry that makes billions and attracts even more tourists and foreign spenders.

There was gambling in Turkey and it got banned.
During pandemic human interaction is not suitable.
And we are near the peak of a pandemic.

We could place it in Izmir close enough the Islands so Tourists can sail directly there and spend their money.

If you want to insist on bringing gambling then you should get companies buy some of the cruise ships that are on sale now and start it there in the open seas. Gambling is big in cruise business, when there was cruise business that is.

For this reason we have Cyprus.
Cyprus welcomes gambling and people earn money while they are under international sanctions.

Gambling is worse then drug addiction, drugs at least could ruin just one person but gambling for sure ruins whole families, from my knowing of turkish mentality the most people are passionate when they catch on something, it is better to be banned or make it to restricted in order to contain it as much as possible. no easy solution on that.
