I am on same level with those people just necause i passed that information :)

Now apply same standard to the opener of this topic :)

I do apply that standard to the opener of this topic. The results are dismal. They are not very complimentary to him. That does not lift your posts to any level of acceptability. Two wrongs do not make a right.

Vajpayee had tact. And that illiterate Modi hadn't become semi literate Modi. He was publicly admonishing him anyway. It's not as if Vajpayee agreed with Modi.
True, he did not agree with Modi, but he let him continue, and let every effort to bring home the accountability lapse by the wayside. That ranged from departmental enquiry to private enquiry, to the court cases, to the intervention of the Supreme Court and Raghavan's special team (I forget the name that it was given), the destruction of the prosecution witnesses, the destruction of the police officer who blew the whistle on Modi - the whole nine yards.

I loathe Vajpayee even more than Modi; Modi was overt, Vajpayee was a scheming hypocrite, who actively worked for the Babri Masjid destruction.

Joe you are bit late to bullfight in the tea-room again. Out of one room, they'd move to another...so kind of hard looking back to see who and where it started and grew.

There was about a week or two of this kind of stuff going back and forth (across multiple threads) combining with me being bit more occupied outside (christmas, new years etc).....and them also being banned/slienced at PDF so bull-running shifted here.

but its settled down now (I think and hope)....

So don't judge them too much on one highlight-reel.
Only current bullfights indulged in, this time.

You should see my Veronica.

Yes, I acknowledge that, and I also acknowledge one statement that you made, that I have consistently preached on PDF, for example, and on many other fora. That is the statement that we should each try to clean up our own acts, and should intervene only on invitation on developments on the other side of the border. Matters relating to Bangladesh are an exception, since I am ethnically a Bangladeshi.

I agree that you did not start this slanging match. I wish I was able to say that at least you stopped it. Consider that an observation and not a rebuke.

If you recall, at that same press conference, Modi interrupted Vajpayee, while the latter was saying that the duty of leadership should have been followed, to interject,"...but that is precisely what was done!" That left Vajpayee the awkward option of bluntly saying, "No, it wasn't," or shutting up and buggering off. He shut up and buggered off.

Yah obviously a total charade in the end. Entire party is compromised on this issue.

Well you got to go by "if shoe was on the other foot"...you got to look at this stuff as neutral as can be.

Stage charades and platitudes is one thing. If he walked away because he didnt want to make some scene, there was certainly no follow-up...when there should have been. So it ended up becoming a charade and they are all tarred with the culpability, and Modi with dereliction of duty on top (and this is the minimum). I can't give Vajpayee any pass on it (given BJP has always said we are not dynasty etc)...if I am not giving any pass to INC for their dynasty coddling. I mean what is the basic meritocratic basis then? It has to start with duty, since you (public servant, CM or PM) swore to uphold it.

This all matters now, heavily. It is the basis for any law and order (for anything else good to come).

Anyway I am resigned to it, prefer other topics largely and am mostly going to observe going forward (politics).
