That and provision of a basic law and order. They need to feel they can trust things as they seek to make things better.

Good point, but a sense of security can come only after the very basics are covered first.

They go hand in hand largely....can't do one without the other.

If you put a water pump with little to no law and order, guys with big sticks (thugs, goons, mafias, even govt proxies themselves) end up controlling it and bludgeon and manipulate the regular people (with it) you are trying to help.

They can shut off anything at any time for any reason....to anyone.

Happened and happens all across developing world.....zero sum reductivism is the antithesis to opportunity + development (i.e quality of life).

If the average individual can make use of public infrastructure in some genuine way it was meant for.....it is actually reflective of there being the basic law and order "tier" present for that.

As this is proven, this expands to more such infra+assets (from the collective trust in system)....and it flourishes....to quality of life thresholds that all humanity deserves at a basic dignity level.

A fair point, but please keep in mind that sheer desperation, say for water, can drive people to the brink of challenging even assured death itself. I do agree with you that ALL humanity does indeed deserve basic dignity, no matter what.

Is it true a mob attacked a former foreign ministers home ?

The degenerates (directly) involved (apparently 21 of them) have been apprehended, booked and will face justice.

The ex-minister made controversial remark in his recent published book comparing Hindutva to ISIS prompting this from this ultra mob (and kind of proving his point in the end, at least about their particular bunch).

Tamil Nadu labourer’s son beats odds to ace JEE in first attempt, enters IIT
Deepak Karthik / TNN / Updated: Oct 23, 2021, 05:26 IST

TRICHY: In a story of grit and perseverance, a 17-year-old boy of limited means and unlimited resolve from a remote hamlet in Trichy, who had not even heard about IITs till two years ago, cracked the JEE Advanced exam in his first attempt to secure an all-India rank of 12,175 and OBC-NCL rank of 2,503. P Arun Kumar, son of labourer N Ponnalagan, will soon enter the hallowed precincts of Indian Institute of Technology in a rare instance of a state government student gaining admission to the premier institute.

Hailing from Karadipatty village, located 50km from Trichy city, Arun Kumar’s fortunes began to change when he was selected by the school education department and Trichy district administration for an entrance test in 2019 for JEE coaching. The programme was offered by IGNITTE, a facility run by students of NIT-Trichy to help economically backward students crack competitive exams.

Residing in a tile-roofed house with his parents, two sisters and grandparents, Arun Kumar cleared the test amid distractions and financial difficulties. Arun initially attended coaching classes using his basic mobile phone through calls that lasted 30 minutes a day amid network issues. Later, his father N Ponnalagan shelled out Rs 10,000 to buy his son a smartphone to attend online classes. The cost-free laptop given by the government had audio issues, he said.

Doing odd jobs like helper in restaurants in Kanchipuram, Arun’s father was particular that his son got proper school education. “Six years ago, as I could not afford the fee of a private school, I enrolled him in a government school. I never thought about pushing him to work as he is a bright student,” Ponnalagan told TOI. IGNITTE coordinator S Rohit said Arun will get a seat in one of the IITs going by the past year’s seat allotments. Arun’s school headmistress Amutha Bharathi claimed no other government school student in the state has cleared JEE advanced yet.

Arun is frank enough to admit that he was not aware of the existence of IITs until 2019. “Quality coaching and practice and more importantly the faith reposed in me by my family and school helped me achieve this feat. I did not let myself get distracted by our difficulties and financial constraints,” he told TOI. The headmistress said that even after the pandemic as coaching went virtual, Arun dedicated himself to self-learning.

Even now, the boy’s family is worried about paying the semester fee costing over a lakh in an IIT as their monthly income hardly adds up to Rs 10,000. With counselling for IIT admission likely to commence in the next few days, Arun’s family is counting on scholarships and good Samaritans to fulfil the dream of a government school student to enter IIT. His family can be reached at 96984-46253.

Three controversial farm laws at the heart of massive farmer protests across the country for over a year will be withdrawn, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today in a stunning announcement just months before elections in states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
The move comes on the festival of Guru Purab, when Sikhism founder Guru Nanak's birthday is celebrated, mainly in Punjab.

Nehru did an awesome job in building the institutions , but he was more of a dreamer who is bit away from ground realities . Shashtri ji dint bet much time .

Indra lead country in most difficult times and so was PV Narsimha Rao . Vajpayee was too soft and more of a dreamer then a statesman like Nehru. Modi is fucking ruining his own image you cant be a pussy and a strong man at the same time , he is literally compromising his own USP

Lol. Modi has always been more gas than not. Need dreamers sometimes. Need realists at others. Even need optimists. Certainly don't need fools.

The relationship grows from strength to strength @Philip the Arab

In January, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to the United Arab Emirates for his first visit of the year 2022.

His visit will be centred on the Dubai Expo in the United Arab Emirates, where the India Pavilion has attracted a lot of attention and foot traffic.

As part of the 75th anniversary of India's independence, the country's achievements are showcased in a gigantic four-story pavilion.

So far, around 4 lakh people have visited the pavilion, with approximately 8000 of them visiting on Friday.

The four-story building is divided into two halves.

Climate and Biodiversity, Space, Urban and Rural Development, Tolerance and Inclusivity, Golden Jubilee, Knowledge and Learning, Travel and Connectivity, Global Goals, Health and Wellness, Food, Agriculture and Livelihoods, and Water are the 11 basic topics that the zones are founded on.

The PM will meet with the country's top leadership during his visit.

In August 2015, February 2018, and August 2019, Prime Minister Modi visited the UAE.

He has also been awarded the UAE's highest honour, the Order of the Zayed.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar visited the India Pavilion at the Dubai Expo earlier this month and interacted with the top leadership of the UAE.

Engagement between individuals is the bedrock of bonds.

The Indian expatriate community in the UAE, which numbers over 3.3 million people and accounts for 30% of the country's population, is the biggest ethnic group.
