Well someone deserve to be fired and facing Courts

He is as a landlubber Policeman in calm city as Jogja clearly not knowing how much sacrifice every Submariner is facing daily when doing their duty, how every one of them although being an elite among the elites must facing the danger is part of their daily duty.

Well, even though Police still struggle to repair their image, for me Policeman/woman still full with corruption.

As they waited for news of his fate, his oldest son, Sheeva Naufal Zidane, said he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps as a submarine sailor.

“Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be on a submarine, because my father is cool,” he said.

This video, and the one that showed Nanggala crews singing "Sampai Jumpa" (until we meet again) with their captain onboard the sub, really hit me hard.
This comes from a person who doesn't know any of them personally. I can't even begin to imagine how it feels like for those who do.

there's always problem with nagapasa class but the problem mostly lies on ship system especially their battery and as far as i know, most of those problem already resolved.

but i'm sure after this incident our CBG batch 2 program with south korea would be under scrutiny from politician and public and the possibility those program to be canceled/replace would be higher.
For sure the Cakra 401 would also be scrutinized as it is the big brother of Nanggala. Any discrepancies found must be rectified before endangering the life of other submariner.

not related to navy but close , currently there's an uproar in US , one of the imporant historical piece of vessels during 9/11 , Cutter USCGC ADAK wanted to be sold to indonesian coast guard ...

They still in the Overlord mode : ON

Crazy way of accepting fatalism respect to them. They knew the danger of their job but accepted it because they knew it was part of their duty and for their country.

The way i see it submariner were always a different kind of people' s breed alltogether . I never see them as a normal guy ...
While i look my self as a tough guy nobody in sane mind were eager to serve in the " Death bath tube " especially in abysmall situation of the Indonesian navy ....
It beyond insanity and simple fatalistic mind obviously .... and yet they are still productive and never lost their marble over it .
That is why i could only humbled my self before them ...

Only the most hard coded and hard willed people could join their club ...

I hope so, but reformation would be cost time and money.
Affecting almost entire basic knowledge of defence.
Wether its the doctrin up to crew training would be evaluated.

Tho i still believe the Armed Forces and defence ministri will not left all the accident without proper evaluation.

What ship ? 110 feet long patrol boat ?

We have lot shipyard capable to build 40 m vessel, moreover bring such vessel to Indonesia will cause pain in the back.

Still, submarine topic make me thinking. Didnt MoD even bats an eye to Soryu nor more advanced boat such as type 218 ? Knowing TNI never give an eye to unproven design such as A26.

All this hype about MoD safary lately only talking about scorpene & type 214, wich make me speculated that there was only MoD ego to lean towards France(beside why he suddenly put rafale into table). IMHO get submarine from firts tier nation such as Japan & German is the best option so far.

my opinion,
if we wanted to reform our military procurement better start on standardizing our equipment. it simplified our logistic, common equipment means common spare part which also means common training, which cheaper in the long run.

procurement in indonesia let's say it shambolic.
we never committed to certain product, we always buy in small quantity and then switch to other stuff even though they serve the same role.

and there the procurement that were handle on unit level.
most of them were small procurement, example; camouflage (uniform), like is it really necessary for every unit in our military to have their own uniform with their own distinct pattern. better spend those money individual soldier equipment like body armor, helmet, optics for rifle, personal role radio, etc.

if you want military procurement reform just look in next new mobdin and its escort..
as long as they prioritize pricey stuff just for show then other equipment will still follow murphy's law in military procurement

Commentary piece, which I found quite good, showing the need to establish proper support system for any submarine force regardless of the existence of international cooperation framework for submarine rescue.

Singapore has 4 subs and have 1 very capable submarine rescue ship. Malaysia has 2 subs and have 1 rescue ship. We had 5 (now 4) and we have none.....😔

I really hope that this tragedy becomes an impetus for change on how TNI's procurement, maintenance and modernization/upgrade are being done.

Too many "asal bapak senang" tradition in Indonesia Armed Forces hi ranks officer.
Such thing of "listening the soldier oppinion" is a such luxury thing.

Not to mention back then was an Soeharto era leadrship legacy, wich is also add additional funds to private pocket.

Something like "Standarization and simplification" seems still far away, lets say 10 years onward from now to realize.

One of the crew has relation with Prabowo Subianto, apparently from his mother line (late Mrs. Dora Sigar). He is mentioned the deceased is is son of his late cousin who died in Timor Timur in 1998.
