Is it a Surface to air missile? And if so, what are its specs?
It is not a surface to air missile. It is primarily an air to surface and surface to surface missile developed to be deployed from unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), helicopters, fighter planes and surface positions with a range of 150+km. it is a low sea skimming missile that will have swarm attack capability. As well as hitting sea targets it will have capability to hit coastal land positions too.

You dont need to sink the frigate as any ship hit by 100kg of HE just 1m above the water line will take the ship out of service for long time.
I already told I do not mean lucky shots...

optimistic model: 100 kg bomb hits over waterline. Ship disabled, battle stops, war ends with victory.
real life: 100 kg bomb hits over waterline. Enemy surprised by attack but able to recover. Enemy ship continues to fire Harpoon salvos and relay target data, task force projects its full power in a life and death scenario and overwhelms you with antiship missiles. You have a little problem here now as you planned for peacetime lucky scenarios and you are out of antiship missiles. Unable to inflict heavy damage due to staying power of ocean going ships your low cost budget fleet is destroyed. You lose war and the next war. Why? Because you did not want to sink a frigate.

Atmaca is a 750-800kg missile and has 250kg of explosive payload and it may be just about sufficient to be able to sink a modern frigate. But we may need two of them to do the job properly.
Cakir, is going to be too light weight a missile to do the same job. It’s use from helicopters and UAVs as well as it’s coastal attack and land launch profile will be invaluable. But it will never be able to replace an Atmaca size anti ship missile.

Ermmm huh.. What happened to TEI engine ?
TEI TJ-300 gives 1342 Newton thrust. This missile will need 1750Newton thrust. So it is understandable that they are going for another engine class. But I just hope we don’t wait another 8 years like we did with KTJ-3200!
There should also be a TEI TJ-400 with nearly 1800Newton thrust. Most of us saw the FADEC screen of this engine in one of the videos of Dr Aksit.
Clearly, SSB is pushing missile engines through Kale.

Very nice job by Roketsan. Now that a small jet engine is not wasted in a single scenario and a big family of munitions can be developed. 150 km range is near the edge of UAV optical sensor to detect and identify a corvette sized vessel in good weather so it can be used by UAVs effectively in EW&EMCON environment.

Everything is good with only few reservations for me (creme de la creme wishlist, nobody reads this anyway...)

- don't rely on Çakır for all coastal batteries and support it with Atmaca too
- if possible quad or double pack Çakır to national VLS
- a disposable wing kit or a bigger wing for Çakır to extend range towards 250-300km (for high/med altitude release application).
- Different frame for Atmaca components like LRASM/JASSM to reach ranges unheard of...
- SAGE guy Mr. Okumuş must announce new weapons to counter Mr. İkinci :)

With the first launch expected towards the end of the year, they must have already come a long way in the development of the KTJ-1750.

For coastal defences I am waiting for the news of 500+km range Bora -2 with improved terminal speed that can hit moving sea targets, until our own sea skimming ramjet and scramjet missiles become a reality.
A Brahmos class ramjet powered anti ship missile hitting any destroyer class ship head on, with it’s kinetic energy will go right through the ship and sink it for sure.

Joint use with longer range Atmaca-Shore, variants suitable for the swarm concept, sea-skimming capability, being able to be launched from many different platforms, serving as the main weapon of unmanned systems, many seeker variants option and environment simulated in the intro. This missile has definitely been developed considering the conditions of the Sea of Islands and will become a missile system that symbolizes that our adversaries in this sea will be an open target no matter what big and powerful platform they will purchase
