I think it's important that our UAV can fly above the reach of shoulder launched AD systems, and other SRAD. Otherwise we'll be losing lots of UAV just for kicks.

I get the feeling that we're stuck here and been for a while. And I get the feeling that some companies are getting sucked into unnecessary production tussle of sorts, I mean Baykar had to breakthrough a lot of resistance while they were just new, and untested and unproven.

But now, they're getting sucked into too much political stuff imo.

Where is the next UAV that pushes the boundry of 60k-72k ft ?

I think it's good that we've changed doctrins and such, but it won't help us if we still get left behind because we're not good enough. It's like inventing the wheel, but others take it to the next level and we're pulling a horsecart around.

But would it be possible to have 2 UAV workingin tandem. One spotting in enemy territory and another launching these munition from within our own borders to hit the target ? (even if they fly at different heights ?).

Yeah but to fly at these altitudes we need a turbofan engine. Currently we don’t have one. Most of our UAV’s uses piston engines.

Don’t we need a SAR radar for that? Many of our UAVs that were shot down were flying below cloud cover because they couldn’t see or target through the clouds using just the EOTS.

Pods are fine and all but as said, its a third party solution to a greater issue. We'll still need a tailor made UAV for the role. And indeed, SAR pods seem too specialized and not enough in service.

Well, even Bora missile briefly touches the domain of hypersonic in it’s suppressed trajectory.
We had discussed this earlier here. But if we remember again; Tayfun flew for 458 seconds and covered 561km crows flight distance. It had to go up to an altitude of 70-90 km for its suppressed midflight. If you add these to the linear distance it has covered, you will have more than 700km. That gives you 4.5+ Mach overall average speed. That means it travels most of it’s midflight in hypersonic speed.

Mr Murat İkinci the MD of Roketsan, had stated that tayfun would have many versions. There were rumours that there was a version being in the pipeline with a capability to hit moving sea targets.
Turkish version will have an expected range of 900km+. Now that will be a carrier killer missile. Nothing will be safe in the Mediterranean East of Malta.

I'm pretty sure the graphic in the top right is supposed to be a BMC Tuğra 8x8 TEL. Hoping to see it soon so Roketsan can get rid of Kamaz trucks.

Meanwhile Indonesian Army representatives call it KHAN 610, for ITBM 600 acquisition. Yeah, +280 on the brochure.

Correction: 610 is for the diameter, not the range. No worries on MTCR. I was the one who indicated the diameter years ago, now i was the one who missed it.

Everyone missed this but, 6.5 m also means baseline TAYFUN can fit into MİDLAS with some slight modificatiıons. Murat İkinci said before that TAYFUN will have a shipborne variant.
