That makes sense. I wasn't talking about selling it to NATO anyway but more like "we are developing NATO capability" sense. Like Kara Atmaca and Aselsan radar deal announcement.

Do we gain anything from funding this or just brownie points?

Just shows commitment also we will most likely provide only a small portion as we have our own fleet and are not relying on nato capability. Those deals with kara atmace and aselsan are not nato deals as far as i know just our own contracts to show investments. Doubtful the french or greeks would buy a turkish missile even if it is produced under license by diehl. But anything is possible i guess.

I really didn't think anything serious would happen with regard to the F-35 but after seeing Lindsey's comments (who for some reason is in Ankara) it seems something is actually happening behind the scenes.

I mean lindsey graham is not as bad as people think if our officials would stop talking bullshit all the time our overall relation with us would somewhat improve. I remember him defending us because of us support for the pkk

Graham for years have been called a friend or an enemy of Turkey with intervals every 2 years. You can almost get a bearing on Turkish / American state establishment relations by Graham's comments.
