As I have explained here before, TF-2000 is at the functional design stage (some might call it contract design, as it is the crucial step for clarifying the contract and realising the things included in the original contract for the buyer).

This decision was taken by SSIK a year ago and the budget was allocated to ASFAT to be the main contractor for the functional design phase. It's been TN's own decision to shift the design and remove some elements, as well as SSB's contribution to the project in the conceptual design phase, so first of all we had a reset in the conceptual design stage. Overall, therefore, the project is still in the functional design phase and we will not get a mention of the project at the SSIK meeting until this phase has been completed and an estimated budget for the production-construction phase has been finalised.

I am quite in favor of Babcock's AH140 design if our design resources will be allocated entirely for TF-2000 to accelerate the design phase. among those the least importance is on TT-FAB. I find Milgem MLU, ADKG construction and modular unit designs much more meaningful within the given short term - mid term setting.

TF-2000 will start in Naval Shipyard, this is for sure. But the 2nd-4th hulls will be produced by a private shipyard (likely TAIS). CAFRAD will and may continue on the side as long as TF-2000s contract design stage has been completed (which is going on nowadays).

@Anmdt

Looks like again no decision on TF-2000.

At least they decided to aquire new Coastal Tugboats...

Besides the TF-2000 we have got a clear information on the which ship will be constructed by Dearsan, it is coastal tugboat that they have also delivered earlier. (Should be named as Kızılırmak). So Dearsan will construct one coastal tug and one minesweeper, or simply two coastal tug at once and minesweeper will be postponed to next year.

What a pity, there won't be F142

I've gotten a bit out of touch with TN news, but from what I can tell there isn't any increase to our naval capabilities as I see it. Only talking back and forth about what will be delivered and what not, and now some design changes ?

We need to field Naval Vessels that live up or surpass our current capabilities especially considering our interests in EEZ.

Hisar OPV are gonna be the major addition I think. Relatively cheap platform for long endurance open sea patrol, larger than our other patrol vessels but not full corvette. Most useful for adding capabilities for peacetime. TF2000 and actual warfighting capability increase is different ofc.

We should have strengthened the Coast Guard in the first place, but instead, since the Coast Guard is separated from the Navy and the Armed Forces, its capabilities on the open sea are diminishing day by day and the institution is turning into a coastal police force.

They (Ministry of Interior) are doing this deliberately, weakening the Coast Guard and reducing its capabilities. Even the corvettes stay at their berths most of the time and rarely go out for training.

What we see is not an illiterate decision, but something done by intention.

No ocean-going tug, No ocean-going survey/research vessel, No ocean-going hydrographic survey vessel, No ocean-going training ship. Someone is pulling an act against us people and Navy, for years. Navy has made a demand for each of those platforms and some of these are highly affordable and available.

Could this be related to the problems in Syria, and our politicians are sucking it up to avoid our so-called allies from actively supporting the establishment of a terrorstate ?

The deliberate action of safeguarding our EEZ is just as necessary as back in the young days of the republic where, if I recall correct, locals or even police sailed out to the islets that were ours and laid our claims on them, because you have to keep doing that in order to stake your claim or someone else will take it.

SavunmaSanayiST now claim Dearsan will build 2 "warships" and 2 "support" ships for the navy for a total of 4. Unclear what they will be.

Support ship term could be misunderstood as LSS or FSS, they are referring to Auxiliaries, which are the tug boats.

As per the earlier 2 "Warships" i can not get any certain information, all i know that Dearsan has got MCMW vessel project and will build one prototype for evaluation. If anything popped out lately for the Somalia / Qatar deployment i would expect additional NTPB orders to accompany one Hisar Class.

Considering all these workload i highly doubt if Dearsan can build 2 more "warships" in a feasible time frame. It should be either something they have overly experienced (NTPB - they have made one within a surprising time frame) or one of the existing projects (MCMW).

Also " Aksaz Shipyard ", last time i have been there, the base had no shipyard facilities. Could they possibly make an AIP refueling station there along with Gölcük? I recall Germans have opposed a second station and allowed only one within Gölcük.

My bad, they have had some facilities not to a great extend since the base has been established but i have never related this to a full shipyard like Alaybey* - İzmir.

Are the Germans the only one capabaly of delivering AIP refulling station solutions ?
As being the manufacturer of the system, i think so.
I have used refueling term for the simplicity,it is not simple plug and pump the fuel mechanism.

Refilling/refueling AIP is a difficult process comparable to refueling a space rocket. It needs specialized facilities and well-trained crews. Any mistakes and things can go wrong really quickly.
