I wonder if MKE will make 127mm too
Then initial plan covered both 76/62 and 127 mm, however it was quite behind the schedule, till a magic hand emerged and accelerared the 76/62 program after the embargo.

DzKK (TN) refrains from referring to 127mm gun as indigineous (on TF-2000) however, some sources from SSB - Government keeps indicating 127mm is going to be developed locally.

On the other hand, the world shifts towards lighter caliber guns on naval platforms, 127 is being replaced by 76, or 57 is being used in place of 76mm. Maybe TN will for a design change on TF-2000 and use double 76/62 instead of single 127?

Even if 127mm is developed it will be produced by limited amounts, at most 7 for 7 TF-2000. Which is 3 are optional as of now, leaves us at 4 piece, niche product. Meanwhile 76/62 will be: 4 + 10 + 7 + unknown counts for various platforms. Also twin forty - fast forty, these have huge export potential in near future with smart - proximity fuzed or guided munitions.

But MKE has a long time till they need to develop a 127mm, maybe they can do it on time but first they should get a serial production for 76/62 since the export customers will be emerging as it proves itself and offered with high tech munitions.

Bro, If Roketsan can pack the 75km range Siper Blk-0 along with Hisar-Rf to MIDAS as a quad pack, then the rules of the game can be rewritten in naval warfare. Even with a 16-cell MIDAS, we can have a very strong firepower. As far as I know, there is no missile in NATO that can be packaged as a quad at these ranges.

Interesting (or even maybe intriguing) thought.
Considering that double end gunned designs were last seen around 70’s era US and Soviet vessels and the fact that the design is now passé due to requirement for a deck solely dedicated to modern ASW operations concept, what kind of a gun layout we can imagine for this double gun?

May not be double ended, they may place two guns on the forward position, keeping ammunition storage in the middle. The ship is wide enough to support the space and volume underneath the deck.

Port and starboard. A nostalgic sight to behold. Food for thought :)

What he posted was actually true; it is just that he didnt mention the source and this is called palgiarism which is quite an unproffessional behaviour

Well he is a joke period. According to him Turkey right now was producing the SU-57 and SU-35 with Turkish avionics and armaments, had bought the J-20 from China, JF-17 with Turkish avionics and armaments from Pakistan. And this is just the tip of the shitberg is spreads on Twitter.

I know. What I wanted to show through my post is that in addition to post nonsense, he also plagiarizes other.

As a spoiler on how it can be utilized;

Syncronization of two guns, with digital control, smart fuzed or guided munitions, practically doubling rate of fire and target saturation. Optionally engaging single or double targets. Digital control and timing via this will ease it.

İ neither overlook nor underestimate the great achievement but i am really wondering if in modern naval warfare big guns are necessary?

How long we haven't heard an incident the frigate hit the enemy's frigate from a naval cannon?

Hellfires seem to me more efficient rather than a cannon. İ might be wrong, i don't insist.

Other than being symbolic, I would imagine they would have a few uses such as:
  • Last resort if all other weapons are exhausted during a long battle
  • Cost effective naval bombardment after the beginning of an amphibious assualt
  • Could play a role in SEAD operations?

Logistics and footprint of 76mm /127mm easier than the hellfire. Guided munitions coupled with imaging sensors and shipborne UAV / USVs will change how these large caliber guns being utilzied in the field.

As a note; TF-2000 and other frigates possibly going to receive a new launcher platform that can fire umtas, kuzgun, sungur - er ( or D) . So why not both?

I don't even know how it is called, "frigate dogfight " or " naval fight" what is the radius of those? Once long range Anti ship missiles appeared, any enemy couldnt chase your frigate with 76/127mm cannons/ Hellfires. Am i wrong?

Look at our 50 year old Gabya class they don't have big guns.

Atmaca and Çakır ruleezzz. Please more ATMACA launcher and CIWS instead of big cannon.

Oh they have, one 76/62 in aft position on the supperstructure.

Well that big cannon serves as;
- Semi-artillery for indirect fires
- Asymetric ASuW engagements (on smaller platforms)
- Partial CIWS and air defence duties with smart or proximity fuzed munitions (or higher rate of fire like SR).
- Also fire control systems like TAKS remarkably increases the accuracy even for the moving targets, combining this with smart fuzes converts these old school guns into an efficient tool.

It is a strategic decision to use AShM's right away, also i highly doubt if any surface platform may approach to another as close as to use these guns, but guided shells have remarkable range. (Vulcano 76mm - 40, 127mm - 80 km with IR - SAL). These values are still a game changer especially in shore bombardment or in land shelling. Also future guided systems like DARDO converts simple shells into imitating missiles, thus making them a multi-purpose gun.

So nowadays these large caliber guns are more of multi-functions tools than being frigate dogfighting - shelling at target.
