Can any senior turkish mamber explain why 10 OPV ? Why not instead 4 or 6 I class frigate ? What is the strategic logic behined it ? Because it seems to me, in high intensity conflict environment OPV won't perform as good as I class frigate even if it is fitted with extra weapons and sensors . @Anmdt @Yasar.
I-Class frigates aren’t cheap. For the price of one I-Class you can get nearly 4 basic OPVs. (Sans extra weapons). I-Class are also more expensive to operate.
In the island infested Aegean and also North East Mediterranean we need patrol boats that are more suited to these seas and have teeth. This way as @Anmdt has explained a lot of load will have been taken away from Corvettes’ and Figates’ shoulders.
As well as patrolling our shore line in good breadth, they will be very useful escort ships. A very important work they will undertake will also be the capability to launch ULAQ class unmanned sea vessels armed with ASW and ASUW weapons like anti ship missiles or torpedoes to strike enemy positions and vessels from a stand off distance.

I am also thinking that we don’t have any ally country that can build and deliver Vessels like Ada class to us. So when we start building we face embargoes and such. And our so called allies start arming our adversaries as well.

Which is why it’s necessary to have our own eco system independant of western allies. Though they may have spies all over the place.

I’d like nothing more than having 6 Ada class corvettes delivered to TN without having to announce it to the world.

America warns or threatens these countries about Türkiye, the Italians are playing double again. Spain doesn't seem to mind.

Funny that you consider them allies.

That’s only on paper.

Allies like Pakistan and hopefully Bangladesh are what we should have. Nations with access to the sea/ocean.

We’re the only Turkish speaking country with access to the sea and can sail from one end of the world to the other.

So all we can do is hang in there and build their capabilities.

To tell you the truth, we don’t really need any ships supplied by any of our allies. Our ship designing and building capability is one of the best in the world. As ADA class goes, they are probably among the most modern and up to date corvettes in the world today. They need a bit more teeth and air defence capability. That is all.
As shown in below pictures, it needs VLS missiles like Hisar or Siper to give it mid to long range air defence capabilities. It would be a good idea to put either one more RAM type point defence system (Roketsan’s Levent) or a CIWS like Gokdeniz or MKE’s new 20mm CIWS system.
Add to these the already in situ 8 or 16 tube Atmaca anti ship missiles with Akya torpedoes, you have a real bad ass stealthy corvette in your hands. Not counting the super rapid 76mm cannon and the helicopter it has that can shoot 16km range Lumtas or 120km range MRAShM.

Ally? There are political, economic and military interests between countries. They are not allies with America either.

In order to develop science, economy and military, you must be in contact with these countries. You cannot isolate yourself and you cannot progress with the masturbation of Islamic unity..

It would be nice to use this approach also on the LHD which is scary naked when it comes to air defense

Would be better to mount those missiles closer to main superstructure of the ship, then the outlying sheet of steel - Like the Ukrainian MILGEM and MILGEM OPV.

Years ago I don't remember exactly which year I was during IDEF at the section of the Navy where they had this maquete of a Gabya class frigate (ex Perry) that had received the modernization of Genesis combat management system, Smart-S radar, addition of an 8 cell MK41 VLS launcher in front of the MK-13 tartar launcher

G-class-Frigate-1024x497.jpg

To me it was odd why they had kept the MK-13 launcher and not used that space for an extra 8 cell MK41, so I asked the naval officer there why they kept the MK-13 (in my eyes outdated and quite useless). I remember the officer saying that we still had SM-1 missiles to use and that a missile was being developed to replace the SM-1.

Very odd because back than there were no developments of AD missiles (at least not known to the public) , so I did not pay much attention to that. But now the Siper missile is in development, which I think has similar size to the SM-1 / SM-2 missile and my conversation with the naval officer comes back to my mind. Are we planning the MK-13 tartar launcher for the Siper missile?

Mk13 also used for Harpoon missiles. It has 40 missile storage so adding 8 cell mk41 instead of Mk13 would reduce the ships harpoon capacity.

Thanx this makes indeed good sense.

What possibilities are there to replace the Harpoons and SM-1 with Atmaca and Siper?????

Ship launched Harpoon and Atmaca have the same length's, obviously standardized sizes have been used during design

Launching 300mm guided artillery rockets from mk-13, was my idea:) please don't forget.
Edit:
BTW it was said that TRG -300 could engage slow moving targets such as Warships. TRG 300 With speed of Mach 3 could waste CIWS and SAMs.

I don’t know where or if you got the notion that I was thinking og Islamic countries being brothers. You couldn’t be more wrong.

I was pointing at Pakistan and Bangladesh as countries that could potentially be suppliers to Turkey. Especially if they are customers and we field similar systems. Then it would be a big boon.

We don’t need anyone, we can build it ourselves blah blah blah.

If you don’t have an ecosystem outside your country then you’re vulnerable.

we should do what we can at cost price if necessary to create this ecosystem and keep it going. Until it’s independant. I’ve already given reasons for why. Tutkic countries are/could be suppliers as well.

KUASAR MARIN STC-10 Subsea Transfer Craft - STC

"The low-visible craft can move both underwater and surface. While getting its power from two electric batteries at subsea; On surface, the diesel water jet is the main propulsion. It can reach a maximum speed of 27 knots on the surface and 4 knots under water. The 10.5-meter-long Subsea Transfer Craft will have advanced sonar and thermal camera systems."

A little bit off the topic but I just can’t hold it anymore

please watch it from start to end and see/appreciate how a particular product clip or maybe an ad should be!

Contrary to common Turkish defense product introduction videos, you;
- don’t hear earsplitting, loud and irrelevant music
- are not exposed to fast paced, horribly edited and filled with split second unnecessary and annoying cuts.
- are not annoyed at the end of 30 second clip

Kuasar Marin, on the other hand, focuses on its product, hence in their clip you;
- only hear a soft yet ominous music at the background and ping sound within intervals to increase the sneaky nature of the product
- see a slow moving sinister vehicle lurking beneath
- are informed with enough tech specs

The entire Turkish defense industry, from top to bottom, for some strange reason believe that they are selling race motorcycles or cars and are direct competition with Yamaha or Porsche and what not.

They are multibillion $ companies and are involved in a dead serious business (no pun intended) hence they should be a bit more choosy with their ad agencies if they have them at first place.

Kudos to Kuasar Marin. Perfect introduction video!

You can’t really blame them for not having decent marketing managers. They don’t know what it is….

Bro isn’t it what you are supposed to do when you hit a certain $ value and especially when you get to be known globally. Hire professionals to delegate chores around your large company.
