Altınay's ASIST replacement is dubbed the Kuşkapanı/Birdtrap. I like it.
Its acceptance tests were completed aboard TCG Istanbul.

1st replacement, so far. OPVs are equipped by another product, developed locally. (Sonitus & HeliPlat).

Since this is a first time LIDAR is used on the ship instead of laser beacon on the heli, i am wondering how good the system is in adverse weather where the air is literally filled in with thousands of water particle causing wrong detection. Maybe they have a paper published like some aselsan products?
That Lidar one has been proposed as an R&D project but use of Lidar is still boggling my mind. A laser beam provides sufficient information for a 1D moving arrest system, what Lidar would do apart from sensing 3D image of the platform is the arrest system is still moving in a similar manner.

Only in Turkey you would see 2 local replacements for such a niche product. Good luck to both companies.

Thanks, I have been wondering if Altinay and HeliPlat's systems are different.

For the Lidar, the advantage would be the elimination of helicopter modification to integrate the laser beacon.

They are developing the sensing end of the project (has not proposed officially, yet), likely can be incorporated into STM's or HeliPlat's solution.

I believe both of these will be (have been) certified up to Sea State 5.

For the Lidar, the advantage would be the elimination of helicopter modification to integrate the laser beacon.
You still need an integration on the helicopter, the pilot needs a low latency feedback on the aircraft's relative position-velocity w.r.t. the platform. A Lidar is more prone for equipment failures however, if they are intending to develop a 5-axis capable arm - arrest system then this would be interesting.

It is not just a brochure but Sonitus is actually giving a kick-start information on who wants to make their own helicopter landing-assist and traverse system.

Where are these picture coming from?
Are these just released?
Is 3600 a continuation of MILGEM series or a standalone design?
If a stand-alone to accompany TF2000 why not a 4-5K tons design?

But tiny radar for whatever reason, it wasn't even Cenk S I think


I think this seems to be the only thing missing from mock-up. A frigate with a 64VLS should consist of a large AESA module generating the electronic beams at both S and X band frequency bands. Considering that some of these MIDLAS cells will also have Siper family missiles, long-range detection capability will gain importance in long range engagement...

From IDEF2023. The photos were taken by Mr. Tayfun Özberk. Milgem+ AS3600 concept isn't new.

I would be fine with Barbaros modernization like approach, but really this needs an EIRS-D

Thank you. And I did some research myself and, no, that 3600 design is a conceptual work by ASFAT and not proposed to TN.
Probably for export.
If I didn‘t know Malaysia was looking something about 3K tons and a little lightly armed hull, I’d say it was a proposal for them.
It Looks like a little bit beefed up Jinnah class.

Please not a rotating radar. At least X Band 4 AESA stationary plates + rotating L band.

Last but not least please two sided UMTAS launchers ( as anti USV)!!!!
