Yeah! But f135 is an improvement over over f119. ( So it should be counted )
F135 in it’s latest guise is a 43000lbf thrust engine that creates so much heat that if the plane flies supersonic without afterburners with sustained speed for 30minutes or so, it could melt. Same is the case for using afterburners. Sustained usage of either is not advised.
This is an engine that is supposed to impart stealthy characteristics to the plane and is designed to lift and land the F35 vertically and fly conventionally too. So it is a compromise in a way.
Both existing F135 and F119 are being augmented by P&W for better stealth characteristics. But where as f119 has only one job; that is, being responsible to fly the F22 with a sister engine, it is easier to tweak than F135. Until variable cycle version of this engine comes in to play F135 will be a poor approximation of a stealthy engine, when compared to an F119.
