Do you have like a phamplet where key points of each candidate is listed ?

Or maybe even a candidate test where you fill out a multiple choice and are matched with the candidate that you have most similarities with ?

We get stuff like that here in Denmark because politicians are full of BS and say a lot without putting in clear

"
Açıklanan ilk verilere göre Ulusal Birlik Partisi (UBP) Genel Başkanı ve Başbakan Ersin Tatar, yaklaşık yüzde 33 oy oranı ile yarışı önde götürüyor.
KKTC'deki Bayrak Radyo Televizyonu (BRT) tarafından paylaşılan resmi olmayan verilere göre bağımsız aday Cumhurbaşkanı Mustafa Akıncı yüzde 29,27 ile ikinci; ana muhalefetteki Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi Genel Başkanı Tufan Erhürman yüzde 21,58 ile üçüncü sırada yer alıyor."

In the first round ; Ersin Tatar got 33 percent vote ;
Mustafa Akınıc got 29,27 percent vote ;
Tufan Erhürman got 21,58 percent vote.

@Cypro What do you think about these results ? Did you expect something like this ? Or was it a complete suprise to people there ? (Like US 2016 election )

It’s still too early to tell the outcome ?

Let’s refrain from taunting each other.

Yeah dude we will die if you don't give money, pls don't give 99% then we don't have to spend it to new mosques.. OH I forgot.. between 2016 and 2019 you forgot to give because we had a leftist government, so I guess 1% is enough. Keep believing exaggerated lies of your media and leaders.. Then you would ask yourself why would these people increasingly distance themselves from us even if we don't insult them everyday.

Of course Greeks don't want to share anything with us despite it is on their constitution.. That is why we are fighting and trying to solve the issue. But yeah.. I guess you guys know better than us..

We? You?

You can compare the results with previous election. Votes of Republican Turkish Party will probably go to Akıncı in the second round as they are in the same camp. Akıncı would probably get 55% to 60% in the second round unless we had an intervention from outside. Conservatives got 41.9%
Leftist got 51.50% and unaligned got 6.58%. According to this figure Akıcı will probably win second round

I see. But what happend in 2015 ? What was the political situation looked like ? Poeple might vote for Akıncı in the first election in 2015 but what did he do in the last 5 years ? I dont think people are content with his decisions. They might prefer change.

So the change is Tatar? I don't think so. If they wanted change they would prefer Tufan Erhürman or Kudret Özersay, I see strict camps here thanks to AKP.. Either Pro-Turkey or Self-reliance side. Tatar could not go more than 10 percent up. 30% is the votes of his party. Pro Turkey camp is UBP and YDP which has 38% vs CTP and TDP 51% remaining 11% is uncertain but mostly Tatar.

I have some theories but I don't know the exact reason. First of all both sides have some people that exhausted from tension. Akıcı is too anti-Turkey, Tatar is too Pro-Turkey where some people wants a balance between this and those people also does not believe their candidate have a chance. (for example Kudret Özersay down from 20% to 5%) There are also some people that boycott because they don't believe anything will change (Lgbti supporters, extreme left etc.) Another most important factor is Coronavirus, most elderly people might stayed at home and didn't vote. Students also recently left the island. Also there are some citizens who don't live in Cyprus and couldn't come because of virus or don't bother. This includes the Cypriots living in UK or other countries and Turkish Citizens who have TRNC citizenship but don't care about elections or live in Turkey. Turnout was 62.35% in the previous presidential election and 66% in the last parliamentary election. Now it is 58.22%.

I also see that the number of votes didn't go down but number of citizens increased dramatically between two elections. May be new citizens don't care about election. Also nearly 5% invalid votes this time, I don't know why, may be because of gloves...

No we don't have voting by mail or abroad voting.. You have to be here to vote.

In Cyprus / Derinya, around 200 Greek teenagers with masks and batons are marching to the barricade with the slogan "Cyprus is Hellen" from where the Greek barricade is. They throw fireworks on our police.

Yeah those racist pricks always looking for a reason to create tensions, this time opening Maraş was their excuse. That will benefit Mr. Tatar for sure.. provocations on both sides to create nationalistic feelings just before elections. We had some people gathering on our side waiting for them haha.

May I ask, why is Akinci running independently ? What significance does it bring ?

As we know it from politics, a political party usually has a clear-ish agenda, background, backing, and you more or less know what they stand for overall.

I can follow the attractiveness of voting for an independent candidate who doesn't have affiliation to a party, but that also brings risks with it.

Such as the president doing one thing while the PM and cabinet is another thing.

Only two things that comes to mind atm is the Corona help package from GC, and I think the PM said he wasn't involved or kept in the loop on the meetings with GC.
