Unless TB3 is going to surpass ANKA in all parameters, then it will be an all new UAV together. It indeed looks like a huge engine being tested for TB3.

I think Bayraktar engineers will try to lift heavier payload under the fuselage (TB3) having lower RCS than current TB2.

It looks like a PD170 engine being tested

Now show us the fuselage of this new drone. Or perhaps they are going to stick with the standard but strengthened to be able to carry 8x MAM/UMTAS

Pd170 users:
ANKA
TB3
AKSUNGUR
AKINCI

makes sense 🙂
PD175 and PD225 are the likely candidates. They are quite a bit heavier and consume more fuel than the Rotax hence a larger airframe is required presumably keeping the same planform.

According to the sources and TEI's brochure, PD170-PD220 are actually identical, the latter only provides extra 50 SHP for a temporary time during take-off.

Dry weight:
Rotax 912 - 60 kg with turbo 78kg
PD 170 - 160 kg

Specific fuel consumption at %75 load:
Rotax 912 - 285
PD170 - 207

Dimensions:
PD170 is definitely larger.

Turns out PD170 engine is named.
SATCOM
CATS
Payload +
to be expected

Presumably Anka+ performance with Baykar brains.

İ have come across an article about a new engine that TEI has been working on for TB3. This new engine is supposedly a diesel hybrid;

Baykar Bayraktar TB3
The latest iteration of the successful Bayraktar TB2 Tactical UCAV, the TB3 model's main difference will be in propulsion.

Tusaş Engine Industries (TEI) will be contracted to develop the TEI HE-150 hybrid diesel-electric engine, capable of producing 150 hp. Coupled with quieter propellers, the aim is producing a much quieter UAV while using electric propulsion over contested areas, reducing detection.

The new engine is expected to be lighter and output more electrical power for use by sensors. Satellite communications will be added to extend communications range to the point it is no longer the limiting factor (that would be flight characteristics instead).

Officials from Baykar have confirmed that existing Bayraktar TB2 will be able to be upgraded to TB3 standard. Development time will last three years, mainly focused on the engine. Baykar, a private company, has invested $200 million into development, expecting to win contracts for upgrade the Turkish Armed Forces' existing TB2s.

Can this be what is being mentioned in media now? This article is over a year old though.

So, is the 750hp engine already available or not, this would be fantastic if it is, no waiting required.

750hp engines are a variant of AI-450 and called “C2”. The technology of these engines are being transfered to Turkey. I am not sure If the engine that is shown on image is 750hp but It is the most logical idea for me at present.

We will need to wait till 2034 for this to happen :)

Indeed! You have to calculate the additional weight of battery cells which won’t be light in hybrid solutions.

PD170 is really good, but personally myself and many other people would love to see a smaller UAV from Bayraktar utilizing PG series and used only for laser targeting.
and call it Bayraktar TB1.5

What we need at this point is Global Hawk(60.000 feet) equivalent but no such project in sight. ☹

Such an UAV would be very good to have. Smaller, cheaper and also with the needed performance specifications. With such weight also would be easier to be launched by catapult. When you said what your vision is RQ-7 Shadow, RQ-21 Blackjack and ScanEagle came to my mind. I personally love the Blackjack and ScanEagle. Would love to see a comparable UAV for the Turkish Armed Forces in that class. Capability to be launched from almost anywhere with the help of catapult with the needed performance figures in order to be able to accompany bigger UAVs effectively. Cheap, useful, small. Could be used in ISR operations from ships. A perfect and versatile solution.

For 4 units of ScanEagle and a ground station according to Wikipedia you pay a 3.2 million dollars. For one Predator drone you have to pay 4.03 million dollars for 1 unit.

ScanEagle specs according to Wikipedia:

High resolution, day/night camera and thermal imagery
