Meant all the top talented people who emigrate or don’t return because of difficult economic factors at home. Top Western educated people coming back home is a positive thing for any economy.
Many of them will be back

even the difficult situation of communist China.

After they earned money and skills in west ,many of them willing to back and create their own business in homeland

It‘s often not solely about economic but also societal & political factors. No one leaves the homeland light-heartedly. But I didn‘t want to get in a political discussion, therefore I don‘t know enough about the inner workings of Turkish society.
South Korean was a dictatorship before 1980s,lots of Korean left.

But when the situation became better ,many of them back from Japan and America.

Most importantly Korea was poor as f*ck. The people then knew nothing else than authoritarian regimes since the beginning of the Republic. The military came 1961 into power and ruled until 1987.

Over 1 million Koreans emigrated to the US in this period, approx. 900.000 live in Japan today (mass emigration during colonization period) and nearly all of them stayed there. They won‘t come back.

The majority returning back nowadays are from the latest generations who went abroad as students, researchers or company workers for Korean conglomerates.

Edit: numbers

Don‘t know about Turkish remigration numbers and mindset of returning home.

The returning numbers for Koreans from USA and Japan are miniscule, even when the economy is booming. Once settled in a new country (business running, houses built, kids in school/college) people seldom return …

Lots of they didn’t fully settled in the new country but go to Korean/Turkish/Japanese/Chinese school/society that never be a real westerner
Hong Kong people went to western in 1990s and back 2000s, then now they going to western again

For Korean, many of them(for example Jessica and Krystal) back to Korean because they can’t be so successful in US

Thousands of Brazilian Japanese also back Japan.

Some 193,000 Turks living in Germany returned permanently to Turkey between 2007 and 2011, according to a study conducted by the Germany-based Turkish European Foundation for Education and Scientific Studies (TAVAK).

Young Turkish origin migrants are increasingly returning to Turkey due to high unemployment, discrimination and better economic chances, said Professor Faruk Şen, the president of the board of TAVAK. He added that the figures indicated that Europe should not be concerned about a population flock from Turkey if visas restrictions are lifted.

The last time when Turkish economy was good

Turkish in west loves their motherland and will come back when situation becomes better

Thanks for the stats. There‘re approx. 7 million people of Turkish origin living in Germany, roughly half of them already with German citizenship.

193.000 young Turks returning home over a time span of 4 years is a good number, but only a bigger drop (2,75%). The majority will stay in Germany (Turkish descendants already in 3rd generation).

Other immigrant populations love their homelands and roots probably as much as Turks do. It‘s typical of emigrating people that they don‘t return because of typical reasons (see my post above).

Losing highly qualified people in the best time-spans of their working lifes to emigration is a net loss for a nation.

Case by case

For a developed country,that is

For developing country, the story is different,in homeland highly qualified people didnt have enough position and chance to grow up, They have to move outside and learning experience, even they dont back they will send money back.

Between 1960-1990 China locked all highly qualified people in their country,Was China good? They lost highly qualified people 1990-2010,China became better and better.

North Korean never lost highly qualified people as they locked the border,so....

Jessica and Krystal and other Korean-American stars are typical returners because of Kpop (white America ignored yellow folks in music & movies):

Korean American return migrants have predominantly been entertainers who were either recruited by South Korean talent agencies or had chosen to move there due to the lack of opportunities in the United States;“

Korean population is economically and academically successful and above American average: they don‘t have much incentives to return, especially the highly educated 2nd and 3rd generation.

About Dekasegi:
If you live in Japan, you surely know how they‘re looked down on and discriminated by the average Japanese because of language barrier und cultural differences.

They are economically and academically successful and above American average, they even became the CEO of AMD and Nvidia, and some of them back to create TSMC and others help them from Amercian

But what does that prove? The founder of Samsung Group stayed at home and created an even bigger empire than TSMC 20 years earlier. 30+ other founders of Korean multinational chaebols who propelled Korean economy were also not returned emigrants. They wouldn‘t have built that companies if they would have emigrated to USA and opened a dumpling restaurant to pay for their children‘s university tuition.

??? Where did I look down on Turkey???
Please re-read my posts. There‘s no point in accusing someone during a discussion, if you‘re of opposite opinion.

Dr. Sahin & Dr. Türeci are a real success: he came to Germany when he was 4 years old, she was born in Germany and both got German citizenship.

They are brilliant people, I bet, they could have developed the mRNA vaccine also in Turkiye if they had lived there. Gifted scientists often get an international education anyway.
