Instead of designing it optionally manned i would rather go for an unmanned version by removing the cockpit and life support systems.

If KAAN was optionally unmanned I reckon certification process would go faster.
I asked this question because we need the usual processes to be faster however possible.

Also, even if it isn't optionally unmanned, I reckon it would be easy to make it so. I remember Temel Kotil saying that KAAN will be able to RTB on its own when the pilot lost consciousness.

Given that the KAAN's design is not frozen, is it sensible to build several more prototypes while data gained from prototype 1 testing has not yet been gathered? Perhaps there is a sense of urgency, given no clearance to export F-16 or Typhoon, so the idea is to get iKAAN developed quickly even if that raises the cost.

While there is only a couple of weeks left to the intended first flight date what makes this media outlet make guesses instead of waiting and seeing, one wonders.

Flugrevue is quoting Temel Kotil who says, that they are on track.

Flugrueve piece came out on the 8th, and not clear when was it recorded. Habertürk piece mentions weekend tests presumably from 9th and 10th. If there is a delay, it is due to these test results. We should hear more within the week.

So the first flight gets delayed because of successfull ground tests?
And how does he gets information about ground tests from last weekend but news sites like SavunmaSanayiST does not?
Lets assume he got insider information, why did he not quote his source?

Maybe he is not lying, but that piece is everything else than reliable.

We don't know the extent of the tests, nor the reason for the delay if it is delayed. A successful test could mean lots of things. SSST directly copy pasted Flugrueve's piece from the 8th without giving credit to it. They are not a fully reliable source. Let's see what comes up.

If it flies on december, it will probably fly again in the next 3 months. Kotil has been touting 27 dec for months, doubt they would delay the first flight just for politipoints.

This geezer Bülent Aydemir is talking about his baseless prediction as if it is reality or as if someone said to him something perhaps because as you know plane paint is stripped to better accommodate tests. While all officials have stated that there is no delay in the December 27 schedule, speculating on this issue without citing any sources is not journalism, but an attempt to undermine the success of the program.

But this is a progress. Since last year, we have gone from the heater block(see my avatar) to the maiden flight target. There are no other nonsense claim left to hold on to.

I should also say that what happens if the first flight date is delayed by a few weeks or months? Nothing. Our engineers and the project team have done an outstanding job so far. The project is progressing far ahead of expectations. So - for the prototype development - we have already passed the critical point. The only thing left is to announce it to the world, which will be the maiden flight.

I couldn't find link to his speech but after first taxi test Kotil said KAAN could have flew (9 months ago) if he knew how far ahead of projections TF-X project was. He could have installed flight computer software etc back in March. So I highly doubt this "journalist" or the site who are not even aware of most basic rules of journalism.
