I wish I were sitting in an air-conditioned room in ANKARA instead of an airplane to fire an A2A missile.
We are expecting aim260 and meteor equivalent a2a from TÜBİTAK and ROKETSAN.

HÜRJET crossed the Mediterranean and reached Egypt! 🇹🇷✈️🌍

Our local and national engineering marvel HÜRJET has successfully arrived in Egypt for the Egypt International Airshow event to be held there. ✅

This prestigious air show will provide Turkey with the opportunity to showcase its defense industry power and engineering success in the African region. ✈️

HÜRJET's participation in this important event once again reveals the global impact of our national engineering and our country's competence in the defense industry. 👏🇹🇷

Yesterday, the Hürjet was once again announced from the highest authority that a combat version will be developed and that this development will be a naval variant suitable for an aircraft carrier. In the light of this announcement, if we look again at the planes that were crudely compared above: The T/FA-50 system, which carries the same engine as the Hürjet and has a design philosophy very close to the Hürjet, lags behind the GE-F414 and Klimov RD-93's aircrafts in terms of climb capability and power-to-weight ratio due to engine limitations. As far as I know, Gripen E/F is the only one of these aircraft that can technically be operated as a STOBAR on the aircraft carrier, although it has not been proven yet. If I am not mistaken, the new Tejas will also have this capability in the future.

I assume that the landing gear of the Hürjet will probably be revised and the weight increase will be offset by structural lightening. It is not possible to know whether a single-seat variant of the aircraft is being considered by shrinking the canopy without changing the main fuselage, but in any case, the focus should be on increasing the total power output rather than lightening the aircraft.

HAL Tejas Mk1 Naval version has already landed on an aircraft carrier multiple times. Infact we have 3 prototypes. Testing will proceed and last we heard, integrations of CCM and BVR missiles are complete though it is yet to tested from landing/take off from aircraft carriers yet

However there will be no Tejas Mk2 Navy version. The research & lessons learnt will go into a new twin engine fighter with F414 engines. The plan is to develop naval version first & then develop AF version from the same.

Indian defence enthusiasts are asking IN or Indian MoD to buy 18 Naval Tejas as trainers. As they jump directly from normal trainers to Mig29k. Tejas naval version also participated in US Navy Trainer bid but was rejected as the bid was poor & had no local partner

Hurjet will start supersonic tests soon. The testing phase is going on at a great pace. TAI will probably complete all of the flight tests with a single prototype.

savunmasanayist is one of my favourite defence sites. But to hava a caption that says great rivalry is most puzzling and more than that, is belittling our Hurjet.
L-39NG is a small jet trainer and is in no where near Hurjet’s class.
It has a small 3900lbf US built turbofan engine that carries this plane to 0.7Mach subsonic speeds. Its maximum altitude is 37000ft.

Hurjet is powered by GE’s F404 engine that develops 11000lbf dry and 17700lbf wet thrust. It is capable of at least 1.4 Mach supersonic speeds and 45000ft max altitude.

They are worlds apart in performance and capabilities. Hurjet is at the top echelon of trainer aircrafts. It is like comparing fiat-500 with Mercedes.

Egypt wants to participate in the production of Hürjet. I think it can be a profitable business model for both sides. However, we need to create full unity on the issues that need a political solution, especially the EEZ issue and full reconciliation in Libya, and I personally do not agree with any industrial capability transfer before that. If there is going to be stalling on strategic issues, TAI's proposal in this tender should not include any industrial cooperation model that would provide any technical advantage over KAI. There is a huge market for the Hürjet, and over the next 20 years, more than 50 air forces, large and small, will renew their training jet fleets or consider the purchase of light attack jets. The current structure in Egypt had previously come to power through a military coup and threw away billions of dollars worth of defense and energy partnerships, including the ANKA program. I have always supported good relations with Egypt. Rapprochement between the two countries limits foreign interference in the region and serves the well-being and national interests of the people of both countries. But the routes and priorities along which this must proceed are clear.

Egypt is interested in Hürjet, UAVs, OPVs/corvettes from ASFAT, modernization of armored vehicles. Egypt is also interested in Kaan.

Well, they better start aligning themselves with our geopolitical goals then, as @dBSPL said. No fucking way that much business should be done with someone that is opposing us in the Eastern Med.

I think we shouldn't take partners in our projects except maybe Azerbaijan. We can offer them a similar model as how US did with us in F-16 production. They get to produce some uncritical parts themselves, learn to maintain the planes, we get to have full sovereignty over our plane, don't have to negotiate with anyone on any issue.

Agree, no ToT except for close partners like Azerbaijan.
