I think the plant in Romania will be smart business. As you know, France for example is blocking non EU products from being acquired for Ukraine with the EU funds among other things. What I'm trying to say is this will be a backdoor into many European projects and funds.

Kudos to Otokar.

I sincerely hope that these production facilities can be used to employ smart people that could contribute to our defense sector development.

Interesting news. Niger is reportedly planning to buy Karayel-SU. They also operate TB2. Per the claim they wanted more TB2s but didn't like Baykar's "overcharged" offer.

They probably wanted to buy at the price level of their previous order and didn't take dollar inflation into account. Karayel is different and it will be a logistical nightmare for Niger down the road.

I'm glad that Karayel got this opportunity since its only export so far was to Saudi Arabia.
Vestel Savunma (now Lentatek) has worked long years on this financing it itself and went through many prototypes and modifications before or at the same time frame where the Caldiran (TB-2s forefather) was being developed by Baykar.

100-horsepower propeller-driven aircraft don’t become a logistical nightmare. That’s why the TB-2 became so popular in Africa. Jet aircraft require a higher level of maintenance capabilities, but you can maintain small propeller-driven aircraft with just some university students.

Having two different aircraft with different parts will make complications compared to having just one.

Yes, but it's not a significant burden. It’s acceptable if other factors suggest that buying another aircraft is the better option. This UCAV's are very simple platforms, and complicated parts are most likely similar ASELSAN products.
