I thing to target a surface radar during active form,we should need 3 EDPOD on triangle position.

A new laser weapon blinds drones and missiles – for a fraction of the cost of a Patriot shot. Is this a turning point in air defense?

The Turkish defense company Aselsan has developed YILDIRIM 100, a laser weapon system that combats drones and missiles in an unusual way: Instead of destroying them, it blinds their sensors, causing attackers to miss their target.


The only costs per deployment are electricity – a drastic difference to conventional defense systems such as the American Patriots, where each shot costs four million US dollars.

Blinding instead of destruction – this is how the system works​

The YILDIRIM 100 system uses DIRCM (Directed Infrared Countermeasure) technology. A radar-based seeker detects incoming missiles and transmits the information to the laser unit, which then directs concentrated laser energy at the attackers' seeker heads.

The laser beam isn't powerful enough to damage missiles or drones. However, it is sufficient to disrupt and blind their sensitive infrared sensors. This causes the missiles to lose their orientation—they essentially become blind and can no longer aim at their target. When attacking aircraft or ships, the blinded missiles usually crash into the sea or disappear into the atmosphere.

"T-HIK(AEWC) and IHA-AEWC is coming
SSB and ASELSAN signed a contract for the ‘Airborne Early Warning Radar Development Project’ (ALP200A).
The radar system, which will be integrated into manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, will be of critical importance for national AEWC platforms.
The critical design will be completed in 36 months and the prototype in 60 months.
The radar will be tested with a technology demonstration on a selected UAV"

5 years. It takes so long. It says ALP200A, but Aselsan will probably develop a brand new L-band radar. If it is S-band, i don't know how on earth it takes 5 years to modify an existing radar and an existing platform, especially a UAV.

Havelsan can deliver the software and consoles really quickly.
