In a drone attack by Hezbollah on Israeli soldiers attempting to repair a tank, one Israeli soldier was killed and six others were wounded, four of them seriously.

Following this, Hezbollah launched two more drones during the evacuation of the wounded soldiers. An Israeli helicopter that had arrived to assist with the evacuation was forced to take off again.

Pakistan opens new Iran transit corridor with Central Asia as it mediates peace in Middle East

Pakistan has launched a new trade route through Iran, with experts linking the development to improving ties between the countries as Islamabad mediated a ceasefire, halting the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The inaugural shipment, comprising frozen meat, was transported to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Friday, officially activating the Pak-Iran Transit Corridor.

Under the arrangement, consignments from Pakistan will move through Gwadar port — part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) — then via Iran to Central Asian states.

"This (corridor) seems to be interlinked with growing bilateral relations between Islamabad and Tehran," Israel's 12-day war with Iran last June, said Munawar Hussain Panhwar, associate professor at Islamabad-based Quaid-i-Azam University.

Pakistan supported Iran at global forums, including the UN Security Council, which, according to Panhwar, helped ease tensions.

"Pakistan's mediatory efforts to end the Middle East conflict have further brought the two sides closer," he said.

The move follows Pakistan’s recent relaxation of export rules, allowing shipments of food, medicines, and tents to Iran and onward to Central Asia via the corridor.

Nuclear-armed Pakistan, alongside Türkiye, China, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, helped secure a two-week ceasefire between Washington and Iran last week, 39 days after US-Israel strikes on Iran in February.

Islamabad also hosted rare US-Iran talks on Saturday, which ended without agreement but saw progress on “several” points excluding Iran’s nuclear program.

What's in it for China?

China is another key factor, Panhwar said.

"China, which also pushed Iran, wants the CPEC's connectivity with Central Asia, and this corridor will play a significant role,” he said. “The US is also onboard in this regard, I am sure,” he added.

The $64-billion CPEC project links northwest China to Pakistan’s Gwadar port via roads, railways and pipelines, providing a route for cargo to the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.

Pakistan's neighbor and archrival India, which enjoyed warm ties with Iran, has been excluded from the new Pak-Iran Transit Corridor.

2016 Chabahar Port deal

In 2016, Iran, India and Afghanistan signed a deal to develop Chabahar Port, a deep-water port on Iran's southeastern coast.

It was developed with significant Indian investment to bypass Pakistan and connect to Afghanistan and Central Asia.

But India has since scaled back its involvement following US sanctions and an approaching April 2026 deadline.

India transferred $120 million, liquidating its financial commitment, and saw officials resign from India Ports Global Ltd (IPGL) to avoid US penalties.

Pakistan, on the other hand, has gained from the trade gap left by India.

Pakistan’s trade with Central Asia, including Afghanistan, rose to $2.41 billion in 2025, up from $1.92 billion in 2024, with exports at $1.77 billion and imports at $641 million.

Don’t forget Afghanistan in that new trade corridor, as China build a new city/corridor near Chinas border.

The US will no longer be able to launch bomber aircraft from the UK and Diego Garcia to strike Iran.
Pls quote a credible source . I have not been able to verify this. If this is true, then this will be a severe limiting factor. The land bases in the Gulf are not practical. That leaves too much to the carriers to exert aerial dominance. Even with Israel's help, its not possible to do this with carrier aircraft only.

I remember the much less ambitious attack over Libya in 1986 and the carriers weren't enough: land based F-111s had to go from UK . And that was a single hit one night op vs. a sustained effort

I've started a separate thread to follow "possible" developments regarding this issue. Tensions between the two countries might ease due to the British King's visit to the US. However, if they fail to reach an agreement, the extent of the tension will be interesting.

German chancellor Merz says U.S. is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership
France has threatened Israel with sanctions within days if it doesn't change course
Meloni publicly broke with Trump over his comments about the Pope
Spain is among the loudest voices pushing to suspend the EU-Israel trade agreement

Both the U.S. and Iran believe time is on their side, but the longer this goes on the harder it gets for everyone.

The U.S. and Israel are increasingly isolated, not just from adversaries but from partners

Zelensky is accusing Israel of turning a blind eye to Russian stolen goods docking at its ports.

A ship loaded with grain seized from occupied Ukrainian land just arrived in Israel and is preparing to unload.

Kyiv says Russia is running a systematic operation, stripping grain from occupied territories and exporting it through people tied to the occupiers.

Ukraine has sanctions packages ready for the shippers, companies, and individuals profiting from it. European partners are being looped in too.

In a drone attack by Hezbollah on Israeli soldiers attempting to repair a tank, one Israeli soldier was killed and six others were wounded, four of them seriously.

It’s incredible how many soldiers are packed together in the open like that. If they were doing something like that in Ukraine, they would all be dead. The first drone would have disabled the helicopeter, and there would be many drones to hunt the soldiers one by one after that.

It’s obvious that Hezbollah lacks the drone proficiency of Ukraine or Russia, but it is learning. Once they master the use of FPVs and have enough volumes, advancing against them would become too costly.

The IDF is obviously not prepared currently to fight in a drone infested battlefield, by the looks of their tactics.

So unable to do anything militarily ayatulas decided to start the Hormuz blockade. But it backfired tremendously.

Now US blocks all their import and export. Iran is losing hundreds of millions per day.

While US as net exporter of oil and gas loses nothing.

Are you listening to Fox ?

Gasoline prices are set globally. No major economy subsidizes them. The only difference is in the US the oil companies are keeping the extra earning. US consumers are paying 35% more for gasoline.

And US exports sweet crude but imports oil from Mexico and Canada. More of its refineries use this importated crude. Both are charging market prices.

Diesel is up by 45% and so is fertilizer. All are heavily concentrated from the region.

Tomorrow's GDP slow down are going to reflect it.

There are no victors in this war. Everybody is losing.

$40BN of oil / gas infrastructure destroyed. $10Bn of US military bases in the region destroyed. And this does not reflect the cost from the loss of production in GCC nor the impact of Israeli economy shut down.

You think all this happened through some jedi mind trick ? How is this 'unable to do anything' when this is one of those wars that attackers and attacked are both facing similar effects.

The impact of rising oil prices on industry and agriculture is very significant. The price of fertilizers on the international market has risen rapidly.

China's fertilizer industry primarily uses coal rather than oil, so the impact is smaller, resulting in a huge price gap. There have already been some cases of fertilizer smuggling. It is said that India recently sought to purchase a large quantity of fertilizers from China, but China's production capacity was insufficient to meet all of India's demand. India is buying fertilizers from other sellers at high prices.

If oil prices continue to rise, international food prices are likely to experience fluctuations as well.

Israel was shocked by Hezbollah's simultaneous attack with 8 FPV kamikaze drones and began withdrawing its military forces from Lebanon. So, Israel's F-35s couldn't save them, apparently :)

Israeli Channel 15 reported that earlier this morning, Hezbollah launched eight explosive drones simultaneously at an Israeli troop from multiple locations. Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom has acknowledged that there is currently no effective technological or operational solution capable of fully countering the threat posed by explosive fiber-optic drones operated by Hezbollah in #Lebanon. According to the report, the evolving drone capabilities are outpacing "Israel's" ability to develop reliable counter systems, leaving troops deployed in southern Lebanon dependent on improvised and incomplete field solutions. Another Israeli media outlet frustratedly described that Israeli occupation soldiers are like "ducks in a shooting range" against Hezbollah. Earlier, Israeli outlet Maariv reported, under the "permitted to publish" clause, that an Israeli occupation soldier from the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade operating under the 7th Brigade’s combat team was killed, and 15 others were wounded after Hezbollah launched a series of explosive drone strikes targeting the forces.
