If we indeed already signing contract for F15EX, they should not be too greedy and pushing both F15EX and F16V, I am completely against buying 2 or more fighter type from US simultaneously it is either F16/F15EX/F18, I am tilted towards F16V a little bit beacuse we already have it, but F15/F18 is not bad.

And we also buy from the europe Rafale/ EF.

I am slowly lose interest with SU35, unless there is some change.

since the poster is Singaporean and and well know with the US system then its quite understanable when he push TNI-AU to get viper for the sake of commonality and interoperability, but when he talks about we can't afford twin engines I think he miss calculate or have not seen the 1.7quadrilion are include for the operational cost

He doesn't sit in our position . Ideally . The bulk of our AF should be in F-16 class and boy ....how much effort we've strived for it . Then again .... Different timeline and different needs . Versatility and range were the game of tomorrow . In our future hypothetical flash point Rafale would be our tip of spear while escorted by the F-15 class and both could multirole in their operation .
Commonality wise dictated for a whole series . But political side of thing dictate us to never put our eggs in one basket only .
The only chance US could put some leverage on us in this round is give us freebies like never before which forced us to take a hard pick between numbers to mass swarming missile carier strike task force or a top of the line deep penetrating pseudo strike bomber and air superiority .

Just a reminder, what's been said back in Dec 2020 (the original article on Nikkei seems has been deleted, probably under MoD direction) :

Pedrason said the defense ministry under Subianto has a grand plan of procuring more than 100 superior fighter jets, to add to Indonesia's current fleet of less than 60. "We'll have around 170 fighter jets at the end of it. Extraordinary," Pedrason said.

Now assuming that we'll have 36 Rafales + 36 F-15EX (let's assume no F-35 for now 🤭), we're likely to buy another 36 jets to complete the Prabowo's target.

This next 36 jets will be the next round. This will be interesting.

Will it be F-18, Eurofighters, or SU-35 if it's twin engine? or will we finally settle on single engine of F-16V, or light fighter like F-50?

Don't worry about the money, we have $79 bil to spend:LOL:

The singaporean guys is this OPSSG right?

One of his comment:

"5. In my unsourced opinion from reading this thread, Prabowo Subianto’s gang just needs to pocket the commissions from various arms deals (as long as it is not from the US) — to fund his next election. Buying American fighters, missiles and bombs, through FMS means there is no scope for corruption for his gang."

^^ Did he forgot that it was Prabowo thats been pushing for the F-35 and the F-15EX is on the procurement plan list.

I hope that this isn't the same singaporean guy in Lowyat who belittle Indonesia and glorifying singapore in every post he posted.

I often got this feeling when reading defenc*talk.com that the forum is the place where US sales representatives used to hangout. It feels like they monitor and control the narratives there.

I'm not saying that there's no sales representatives registered here as members, but our forum is definitely more balanced (so far).

Assuming a lifespan of 15 years for a military communications satellite weighing 2,500kg (5,500llb), the accumulative costs would be upwards of $95 million for the launch and launch insurance, $150 million for the spacecraft, $20 million for its in-orbit insurance and $15 million in operating costs, making a grand total of $300 million.

$300 mil for 15 years? Surely we can afford it.

There are some of them who think Singapore is Israel in Asean.
