For non-Turkish users, Rönesans residences were one of the most expensive residences in Hatay. They were marketed as earthquake-resistant and luxury apartments and sold for an average of 150K dollars. Hundreds of people bought their death for 150-60K dollars.

I believe the blue flashes are the result of rocks containing quartz colliding with other rocks. Colors are different depending on the material. The stress causes the chemical bonds in the rocks to break which makes the oxygen ionize, which then goes up and causes lights.

I just watched a news report on haberglobal, an olive orchard in a village in Hatay. It was turned into a Canyon with a collapse of almost 10 meters, then the muhtar pointed to a place and said that it used to be a hill. We see incredible things.

We are facing a disaster that changes geographies.

The building do have foundation, because it is solid rock ground you don't have to go deep in the ground. That building is a good building!

Sry but thats nonsense, if there is solid rock then you penetrate the rock and anchor the building, you dont just lay it on top, otherwise no structure will withstand horizontal forces be it wind or earthquake.
How deep is the foundation on that building? One meter at max, thats ridiculous. Besides the soil doesnt look like bedrock to me either.

You can not generalize like that, my city Adapazari build the new town on hills after 1999 earhtquake because the ground of the city used to be dried out marsh lands of sakarya river. Some buildings collapsed just the same way as this one.

Same situation, buildings without a foundation. The real tragedy is nothing changed in 25 years.

That side of Turkey soil is not solid rock, you are correct because of that houses sunked in the ground. Againg this is a common building technic and it is not easy to do it in solid rock, so how do you want to put a hole of 20 meters?

Not 20 meters but you can not build a multi storey building with just 1 meter foundation, its obvious the center of gravity will be too high on it if it isnt anchored accordingly.

you clear the soil until you reach the bed rock its somewhere around 1-2 meter then you dig holes and put some metal rods in shape of J in them then use some square shape construction metals to make the foundation then you fill all the cleared space with concrete until you reach the surface level that's how you make the foundations. this is a basic engineering tactics

they probably didn't dig until the bedrock or put those J shape columns
