+1 Exactly! For this reason, the classic MBT concept has collapsed.

If tanks are to exist on battlefields, they have to undertake a different task than they do now. Of course, they will be equipped according to these new task descriptions. To me, this new task is to command unmanned armored terrestrial drones (and if necessary aerial drones) around them. Therefore, the new "MBTs" must be agile, small, well armored and well camouflaged. They will obtain their major firepower through the drones they command.
C’mon, why do you need an mbt if the idea is just to send commands to drones, a simple (and well camouflaged!) transponder will do the job!

Then it will. In their current MBT form, they are nothing more than armored target boards.

The MBT is not a dead/obsolete weapon by any stretch....you have to consider what a 120 mm gun brings to battlefield scenarios where it is going to be extremely relevant still.

Like any weapon it will have its shortfalls that are to be addressed with suitable combined arms doctrine support around it.

Infantry certainly did not become obsolete on account of machine gun nests in WW1. Rather infantry evolved (both doctrine and use of support against specific anti-infantry technology)

The Altay project specific problems/issues must be addressed of course, but MBT will remain integral to TSK force structure needs like any large military in general.

I would prefer unmanned light tank with 90 mm LP gun rather than MBT with 3/4 crew.

It would be better if the tank can be optimized in such a way that 2 crew members are enought to operate it. With hard/soft kill systems to defend it against atgm.

I'm more suprised self propelled howitzers aren't considered more important especially with drones helping with targeting. There are too many threats to MBTs, considering their max firing range is much shorter.
Fighter jets has also many threats. From AAG to AAM. Should we cancel TFX project ?

True. But, missiles/glide bombs have been developed for fighter jets that can make precise strikes from a longer range. Stealth technologies and RF decoys were also developed for fighter jets. Drones have also developed that can take over many of the tasks of jets. Finally, because of their speed, jets can avoid potential risks more quickly if they are noticed early.

None of this happened in MBTs. The weapons of MBTs are still short-range, MBTs are still bulky, MBTs are still easily detectable. And worst of all, there are still no drones to take over some of the MBTs' duties.

"None of this happened in MBTs." How so?
Why you compare " apple with pear"?

In order to Win a War it is STILL valid FACT that you MUST have soldiers on ground which MUST push and take the teritory of you enemy.

In order to increase survive-ability of you ground soldiers you build other platforms....... like for example TANK......
The Tank remain primary platform for soldiers...................Main direction of tech evolving for tank is still Armor..........

Above said.........For you saying this "None of this happened in MBTs."!? it is look like you forget or do not have knowledge saying untrue things is not correct

Parallel with development of Altay tank Turkiye also developed Addon/Support/Accessory....What ever you may call it platforms like
- Armor (there where different shapes, different compositions and we saw Altay tank to evolve )
- Active protection expect israel back then having this addon, Turkiye also work on this for Altay
- Direction of Shooting Sensor platform...............from Bullets, Arty, ATGM, what ever shoot on Altay tank pinpointing the location
- Sensors when Altay Tank is illuminated as target which will be attacked
- Hybrid system related to new trend of Fuel and Electric Vehicles
- Ammo used to be launched from tank Turret as Long range missile ATGM
- Mini drones as Recon connected to Altay tank network of eyes
All above where tech was developed for Altay to increase advantages of Altay tank in different Actual situation

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other thing Still remain and created WOUND on Turkiye and all haters still pocking in the Altay tank wound and laughing. But we have to be Seeing the Big picture here..........FACTS.......................and END RESULT................anything in between is just speculation
So the Main thing remain ENGINE.
Turkiye was tricked and brutally screwed by germany it is FACT what ever you may have different view. Result is the same Turkiye did NOT expect that officially signed contract/document for engines will not be followed by germany. Even more germany used the situation as purpose to punish, blackmail, revenge for some reason to K.O. Turkiye (they even said to Turkiye officals do not develop, we/Germany have it buy it from use.....It was threat but who can really think that germans Really mean it.... Now we know)

"Why are we bringing up this topic every time"?
- Because we have new members which do NOT read all previous posts. This history/previous posts describe and explain almost all aspects of the issue, but yet new people/members do not want to spend time to read.

- And also we have to keep in mind that here/there are small number of members which use each new news as opportunity to start Bla BLa
