• Attempted to gather information targeting personnel in managerial positions working at defense industry establishments located in Türkiye,

• Attempted to obtain information regarding a phone used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

“There is a spying (*espionage) crisis between Turkey and the UAE

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has now contradicted its own statement:

"Additional Statement

According to information obtained from our security sources regarding the spying (*espionage) investigation announced in today's press release, it has been understood that the suspects have no connection whatsoever with the United Arab Emirates.

I’d really like to know what National Intelligence Service (MIT) really thinks about this whole thing and, of course, I’ll never know about their views and investigations.

I never said anything about ‘betrayal.’ I’m just making an analysis. State-to-state relations run on interests, not emotions. A few billion dollars is just one part of that equation. It’s not about liking or disliking anyone... It’s about reading the situation correctly. What I pointed out is that there may not even be a betrayal in this case, and people shouldn’t jump to conclusions based on every headline they see.

According to SIPRI we’re the world’s 11th largest arms exporter and could realistically push into the top 5 within a decade. Our biggest customer right now is the UAE, so headlines that single them out as a ‘target’ don’t strike me as genuine. Be careful and don’t jump on every story!!!

In its corrected form, it sounds like (not definite) there is a cover up of involvement of a certain country. In this new version it’s presented as some Turkish nationals, defense industry executives of all people, are engaged in espionage activities independently. More censored it looks.

Mr. Kubilay Yıldırım, for instance, pointing to headhunting by UAE within Turkish Defence industry that has been aggressive to say the least. He also adds that the breakthrough of both UAE and Saudi Arabia defence industry in recent years is not insignificant.

BRUH! I never imagined I’d end up defending the UAE, but here we are lol.
I didn’t even see ‘UAE’ on the document attached in those tweets but only in the comments. And EVEN IF the UAE is on that paper, then what? Am I supposed to act shocked? Tons of countries have been doing the exact same thing for years, buddy. Look at ASML, the place is full of Turkish engineers, they’re probably serving döner in the cafeteria every damn day.


I’m not thinking like Erdoğan when he says ‘the Arabs didn’t betray us’ lol. They absolutely did at times... no denial there. But they’re not the only ones doing this, yet somehow they’re the ones being singled out right now, painted as the devil’s shadow on Earth thanks to the media.
Let me repeat: I’m not calling them angels. But if they’ve screwed us once, then what do we call the countries that have stabbed us ten times, yet we keep crawling back to them like a blinded, insecure lover afraid to be alone?


And honestly, this whole ‘Arab hate’ narrative plays perfectly into the hands of certain countries. They benefit massively from keeping that hostility alive.

If we’re claiming that we’re going to lead this whole fricking ‘turf,’ a.k.a. the MENA region, then we’d better adjust our ideological framework accordingly. We won’t achieve that through hard power alone, but by keeping regional powers close and building as many points of connection with them as possible. This is the way and Israel's one of the biggest nightmare is a good relationship between Turks and Arabs.

To add on Mr. Kubilay Yildirim words, the fact that the UAE resorted to espionage reveals that they are having difficulty recruiting the required personnel from Turkey. Moreover, it can also be similar to the recent event in Iran in which both the UAE and Israel are starting to document data regarding the Turkish engineers within critical fields in the Turkish defence industry to be assassinated in the near future

Do you know how Israel managed to kill Iranian nuclear scientists? By placing spying applications into the phones of their wives, children, and grandchildren and when the target to be assassinated is close, then they bomb not only the target but also his whole family along with him; something similar may start happening in Turkey considering that Turkey and Israel will sooner or later fight it out in Syria, Cyprus, Sudan, and Greece

As for the recent advancements in the defence industry of the UAE; I would say it is because of 2 main reasons

1- The UAE has been carrying out lucrative recruiting campaigns in which they target bankrupted defence companies within Africa, Europe, and the US in addition 5o engineers who were fired due to various reasons (both good and bad). They can even go as far as offeeing 4-5 times the average salary for such job placements in the US, Europe, and Turkey

2- According to US intelligence services, both the UAS and KSA have been carrying out subtle transfer of Western technology to its Chinese counterparts. This obviously wouldnt be for free. In return, China is probably giving such countries ToT regarding less critical military hardware like howitzers, APCs, short and medium range ADs, rockets and ammunitions to be produced domestically

All we know is that they’ve found out an espionage ring operating for a certain country within Turkish defense industry probing, researching info and collecting data. This is the news. Regardless, of race, creed, faith, ethnicity, xenophobia.
Afterwards, Chief Public Prosecutor's Office retracts the press bulletin. This is even a bigger news story because it begs the question why. It’s curiou, again, regardless of any prejudice.

Was it an attempt by Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to smear UAE? Was there a political pressure to government from an outside party so they had to retract it? Or was it even maybe a really aggressive headhunting party by few industry individuals that gone bad?
We’ll wait and see I guess.
