I am not the expert of the matter but the way Altay designed lead to only one engine that is made by MTU and the gearbox coupled to it to offer the required performace. We could have started Altay in a way to support alternative powerpacks in much earlier stages. Are those brands from different countries? Didn't we try this with Altay and only SK agreed much later? I am just asking because i am curious and i don't want to see old junk in the inventory.
And since South Korean engine was the only likely compatible powerpack, (hence the Altay project itself stemming from K1 and same powerpack used on the similar chasis) with the minimal redesign process.
And when we come down to IFV - APC class the powerpack is available by multiple manufacturers located in different countries as far as i know.
