And another question: could it be launched from a simple launchpad at any random location (geography permitting) after being transported on a truck?Another question how long would it take to recharge its battery at Naval base? 20 hours?
Not sure of the exact battery configuration but shouldn't exceed 3 hours.Another question how long would it take to recharge its battery at Naval base? 20 hours?
This is the entire point of making it transportable. And another question: could it be launched from a simple launchpad at any random location (geography permitting) after being transported on a truck?
The advantage of such a mobility gain would be amazing
So, a mobile launchpad will also be transported to to the designated launch point. Cool. Not sure of the exact battery configuration but shouldn't exceed 3 hours.

The carrier will be the launch pad i believe. So, a mobile launchpad will also be transported to to the designated launch point. Cool.
EDIT: Or better yet, the mini sub could be transported secured on the launchpad as a single unit and entire unit could be unloaded, set up and ready the the sub to be slipped away at any shore line.
I like this so much. Kudos to the company, navy and SSB people that made this possible. This is a TKY (Technological gain liability) project, likely a percentage of DIMDEG project is used for here. Shouldn't be more than few million dollars including the R&D.
That's a completely different class though, not just in its displacement, endurance and depth but also it has made multiple tests and a contract was already awarded for the actual unmanned submarine to be built based on this design. We are just taking first steps now.
Datum mainly has one single project and it is to make a multi-purpose manned mini submarine (And i find their goals highly suitable, realizable and achievable by a start-up of given size). However, they were not able to acquire a fund to accomplish this earlier, the CEO has had the dream for a decade and worked on conceptual design(s), maturing over the time with his colleagues and on his own nearly by self-funding. The company is more or less about the founder - CEO and few colleagues of him. He preferred to keep a low profile since he has got the project and funds, as you might know why, If you are living in TR and got such a fund, there would be a herd of vultures trying to rip off the budget (for no reason they would place obstacles and then ask for some -help- to ease the burden of passing through). I believe, after accomplish certain goals and assuring his position in 'capability' to the higher ups, the company will have more information in the website and continue to work on other designs.@Anmdt
Why is Datum and its projects are almost impossible to find on the Internet? Other than 1 article from 2020, there is no information anywhere, and their website is nothing but 1 paragraph put in front of a nice background and a contact page that is nothing but 2 Lorem Ipsum's and a stock photo. I can find more about their CEO than the company itself, which doesn't even have a Linkedin page.
That makes sense, and yes I unfortunately know those kinds of vultures through some friends that worked in defence industry. I also like their singular focus, rather than a scatter gun approach to try to get funding, and hopefully they'll be successful. A mini submarine that could be launched from a single truck is a very interesting concept. It was just weird being able to find CEO's deviantart page easier than information about his projectsDatum mainly has one single project and it is to make a multi-purpose manned mini submarine (And i find their goals highly suitable, realizable and achievable by a start-up of given size). I am pretty sure they will have a decent reception in person, to disclose the project with details and update the website soon after that. That makes sense, and yes I unfortunately know those kinds of vultures through some friends that worked in defence industry.
