I believe MKE has been building these fuzes for a long time, most our ships had a similar capability for years for 76 and 127mm. What Strales adds is the radar and the faster rate of fire.

I thought MKE was only making the HE type of 76/62 rounds without the proximity fuse. The picture is from TCG Istanbul which is equipped with Super Rapid. The munition shown could also have been delivered with the gun from Leonardo

Current Tepe-Class acquisition surpasses a billion dollars, suffice to say well above. The first 4 orders most definitely will be full package consisting of Planar array Triband AESA ESM suite, Full CAFRAD suite, 96 VLS.

However, I am ascertain that the later block will be downgraded to serve as multi-purpose frigate and won't be referred as "Tepe Class". Costing nearly half, 6-8 of these will be procured.

And there will be a final block which will be procured after the multi purpose frigate, and it will be something else, possibly 2 or 3 of these dedicated to BMD.

There are few ships in the inventory, seeming that can't keep up beyond 2030s, at least two of this "rumored" orders are for Turkish Navy.

Also we shall consider this in conjunction with TF-2000 procurement. The very same shipyards of TAIS consortium will be building TF-2000, on in each. 4 more I-Class also means another 2 years, which delays +3 TF-2000 by another two years, beyond 2030 to start construction.

I think they would first order the replacement for the sold ships and the extra maybe after the 3 tf2000. But overall I don’t expect any more orders for tf2000 before 2029 but I would welcome 10 istifs for our navy.

Downgrading the sensors and lowering VLS count to 48-64 on the Tepe and converting them to a multi purpose frigate at 5-6ktons would be cheaper than a new design.

Just check out the cost of Type 45 Daring Class destroyers of UK.
According to below report in 2016 ,each ship cost 1.2 billion dollars. With today’s dollar that is 1.7 billion dollars. It hasn’t got as many VLS as ours . Infact 48 cells only. Tepe will have 96 cells. Overall they are very similar ships in size and weight.
Turkish cost base will make it cheaper. But by the time the ship is fully fitted and ready to be in the inventory, it could be 2030. So think about the value of dollar in 4-5 years time. I think 1 billion is an optimistic prediction. It could easily surpass that by a large margin as predicted by @Anmdt .

To be fair a billion dollars is still a good price compared to other ships. Greek fdi costs around 800 million per ship and arleigh Burke cost close to 2 billion I think only the South Koreans and Japanese are better than us even though they use American systems on their ships.

It makes sense if our navy didn't aged 10 years ago. It will make sense in the future when we have enough ships that delaying new ship deliveries for couple of years doesn't hurt our navy that much. It just doesn't make sense now or the near future. If there is lack of money which clearly is, we need to find that money somewhere else and not selling ships that we need 10 years ago.

As I understand it it's not a direct consequence of coffers being empty but financing and timelines. There were some talks of private shipyards spearheading the talks on this sale. If each Tepe is to cost 1bn, awarding the consortium with 3 Tepes is 3bn; and that order is not coming at least before 2029-30. Consortium's military orderbook is fulfilled at the current stage after the current in construction ships are completed by 2028. What do they do until then, it's a 3-4 year gap. Shipyards want neverending ship buildup until at least 2035. They spent all that money on bringing up manpower and expertise to build warships and probably got promises from the government and the navy; they wouldn't want their investments to go to waste. It's a problem everyone has. But there has to be a better solution to this.

Someone had wrote a long time ago that each TF-2000 has enough TR modules in its radars to fit at least 6 Istifs. I didn't make or confirm that calculation, but I can see it being true. Tepes are huge, and they will be on the same wavelength as Type-055s and old Ticos. And I really don't see that navy will get more than 4 AAW variant.

Now that made me really curious.

Will those "6-8 multi purpose frigates" share the same hull as Tepe-class? If yes, then it means that rumored ~5000t multi purpose frigate project that was planned after Tepe-class are those 2-3 ships you mentioned here?
