-We shouldn't export very high tech to other countries except Azerbaijan. And maybe Ukraine.
I mean, no matter what policy is implemented Turkish defence industry always will be the biggest contributor to its National security.
However, given the size of Turkish economy if it does not export its high value products and generate greater revenue, the industry (considering the range of its ambitious projects and the size of its expansion) would become a financial burden on the economy.
Also, if Turkish defence industry doesn’t sell its high value products somebody will fill the gap anyway. ( given there are emerging alternative sources outside West like SK, Japan or India) So why miss out a lucrative share of weapon sells when you can have it easily.
But more importantly, cooperation on defence is a very solid way to advance geopolitical interest and make strategic partners. For example, we could look at India and Israel and how their bilateral ties evolved overtime.
