I wish they showed it as a complete single video so that we could calculate range. With excerpts of firing it is not possible to see how long the missile actually is in the air for. But probably hit the target in excess of 5km. Any ideas??
They will be the nightmare of helicopters and low flying aircrafts, including CAS crafts and UAVs.

It is certain that Sungur will be a helicopter, drone and missile killer with its first speed, ability to lock on and destroy the target from longer ranges and seeker head performance.

The Sungur Blk2 missile with passive/active RF seeker option will turn into an excellent missile system for use in C-RAM or ship/land-based close air defense missions in the ~2x range performance than Sungur.

Turkish defense industry has delivered the first batch of the Sungur Weapon System, a portable air defense missile system effective against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), jets and helicopters, to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), Presidency of Defense Industry (SSB) head Ismail Demir said Sunday.

Demir, in a post on his Twitter account, stated that the portable air defense missile system developed by Roketsan is at the service of Turkish troops with its version that is shot from the shoulder of a single soldier after the already delivered version deployed from platforms.

“The Sungur Weapon System offers a longer range than its counterparts and stands out with its Imaging Infrared Seeker Head, which is resistant to countermeasures and offers the opportunity to lock on to the enemy elements from a longer distance than the eye can see,” he wrote.

The SSB head congratulated those who contributed to the design, development and production of this system, “which we will no longer be dependent on from abroad.”

“We always say, if something is human-made, we can do the best,” Demir said.

The Sungur Air Defense Missile System is an air defense missile system to be used in the short-range air defense of mobile/fixed units and facilities on the battlefield and in the rear area. The system is designed to be compatible with different platform integrations.

The 8-kilometer (5-mile) range of the air defense missile used in the system stands out as the most important feature that distinguishes Sungur from its counterparts. While the missile system increases the accuracy of targets hit with its Imaging Infrared Seeker (IIR) technology, it also has an important advantage in the destruction of air targets with its warhead, which has higher explosive power than the similar system available in the inventory.

Its propulsion system, which enables it to be more effective at a longer range than its counterparts, and the use of sights, which allow the user to detect and view the target from a long distance before firing, are other technologies that increase the effectiveness and accuracy of the missile.

Having the Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) System, Sungur also offers various advantages to the user with its ability to lock onto the target before firing and fire-forget.

Roketsan is currently continuing with the system’s integration with sea and air platforms, while it was already integrated into the tactical wheeled armored vehicle Vuran as a land platform in a short period of three months.

SUNGUR differs from old gen Mistral( just IR seeker) with its İnfrared İmaging seeker.

What is the difference between both?
I am not an expert but AFAIK Imaging seeker is hard to deceive. The seeker calculates the imagine of target.

Sungur can execute 50G maneuvers and its maximum speed is above 2.5 Mach. Its acceleration capability is mindblowing which means a shorter flight time to its maximum engagement range compared to its competitors. Warhead effectiveness and performance of the dual-band IIR seeker of the missile are brilliant. It has unmatched range and altitude aka kinematic performance.

Sungur-ER will be bigger in both diameter, and length and will be substantially heavier(Sungur weighs 15+kg with a 1kg warhead). It is planned to be offered in IIR, RF, and dual seeker configurations. Sungur-ER will likely have double the range of Sungur with a heavier warhead. I expect the Sungur-ER to be substantially lighter than RAM Block-2A(88kg) somewhere between 50-60kg with a lighter warhead than RAM Block-2A(11kg). I expect it to have 50G maneuver capability with a maximum speed of Mach 3.

did we send the first batch to Ukraine?

I wonder if Ukraine had these things in mind when they said their partners could even send them new weapons that they could test on the battlefield.

simce the Russians have habit of flying so low with their jets im really thinking Sungur is going to be perfect for the job

Ukraine war has proven in a nato vs russia war that manpads will take out russian jets.

Russians rely too much on dumb bombs which work in a total war scenario.

It appears Roketsan has gone away with bulky NV or IIR Optional sights and have a small eye-piece display linked directly to the IIR seeker of the SUNGUR, to provide integral night launch capability. (BTW That transparent piece is an eye shield)

It works similar to Aselsan's Korsan & BOA thermal weapon sight

That eye piece is integrated with HERİKKS and you can see air contacts with it like a video game
