It seems to have Akkor installed though. Left of the gunners sight
Roketsan has developed and produces armor. It is said that there is issues with armor too, they might had went for modular armor to make up for it as much as possible
how much would they have to decrease the weight ? and why decrease the weight of a mbt. Designing a new tank would be better right.Roketsan has developed and produces armor.
A year ago BMC has told " we are reducing weight of Altay tank in considerable amount"
This is what they meant, by replacing cannon and armor.
IMO, that looks like a mock up which brought to fairs, and stickers on engine and the parts are made of paper stickers. I doubt if the engine is real and actually runs.
The visit is only intended to say "look we are working" and smells of too much preparation ,set up. not a surprise after state officials had backed the company up by saying approval of Germany is awaited a few days ago.
So a Leopard 2 with a turret of Altay? Now that sounds interesting...
No it’s not. The Leopard 2’s gunner sights are placed below the roof which is a bit below the roof as with the case of Altay. What’s more she carries L44 gun which is L55 with Altay.
Perhaps a BMC comeback for the Leopard upgrade project? This way they can start Altay production while the engine issue still hasn't been solved.Relax guys
The tank that have been presented is not Altay, but Turkish mod’ed Leopard 2 as driver sit on right side which is in center position in the case of Altay.
Bro it seems as heavily mod’ed Leopard 2 to me. The time will give answer later on in anyway.View attachment 7564
It seems chassis of Altay is heavily modified with new armors. The barrel is shorter than other Altay prototypes (shorter). The position of Akkor radar (the sight of angel) is different.

Sorry to interrupt who would produce ALTAY's gun? Rheinmetall or MKE? If rheinmetall i'll ask another question
Tankterra: The tank is not Altay. It is more or less obvious from the driver periscopes. It looks difficult to see in the photo. We know more or less about the Leopard 2 modernization. So modernization will evolve in this direction.
