Eurofighter is known to be more expensive though, and even more expensive to non consortium members, it is a very high end capability, whereas F16 with FMS and very large production numbers to date, is going to be much cheaper.

Source of the all discussions was this twit:

I think some people misunderstood some parts of the twit. However I am still unsure about this statement. If we consider current orders and state of the Eurofighter in UK, It might be true that they will be produced in Türkiye. However I personally feel weak this option and I think he wanted to say that delivery order has changed and UK's production will be for Türkiye.

This account pulls everything out of its behind, it is not a serious source nor has it ever gotten anything right, you would think with how much they throw on the wand something would stick.

There are others too. I said already it is just rumor. No need to take it serious but this idea is not fully absurd. Giving some attention makes sense.

I think what Mr Tayfun Erdil wanted to say is England's Procurement Slot will be given to Turkey for quicker delivery. I dont think the entire production line will be opened in Tusas for Eurofighter. Lets wait and see.

Exactly, why would England be okay with transfering their production line to Türkiye and lose thousands of jobs?

Also you can't just open a line in another country, all members of the consortium need vote for it.

Erdil is talking about England shifting its own place in the production line over to Türkiye so TAF does not have to wait until the end of this decade for its EF.

This is the most possible outcome, i've been very baffled at how people can believe anything that is thrown at them.

In the first place, UK needed new orders of EF in order to keep EF production line alive for the Tempest project, so they don't lose both the production line and the experienced workforce. It's not a surprise that UK pressured Germany so much to allow the sales for Turkey.

What can be produced in Turkey can be some spare parts, Turkey is very stubborn in this matter, we are one of the best armies who pay so much detail into logistics(after US).

In any case, this is a win/win situation for both parties involved, UK gets to keep it's production line, and we update our very outdated Airforce with very capable jets.

There are rumors that Turkiye is expected to sign a contract worth 12 billion £ (14.45 billion €) for 20 Eurofighter Tranche 4+20 Eurofighter Tranche 5 (optional). Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027. There is also a separate weapons package worth 2.5 billion euros if all options of the weapons package are exercised.

40 Eurofighter Tranche 4/5+ weapons= ~17billion euros
40 F-16 block 70+weapons=~7 billions euros
Üstad, Should we expect a development regarding the Hürjet EJ200 integration that we have seen on social media lately?

We know that it was one of the engines evaluated in the past years when the Hurjet was still in the design phase, but for one reason or another, the project continued with the F404. Although there are many questions such as whether there is such a demand, or even if there is, which buyer will bear the cost of these development and integration studies; The inclusion of the EJ200 in the engine configuration options of the Hürjet could bring the project to the forefront more for the EF user air forces' LIFT needs, and with the better thrust-to-weight ratio to be provided, the Hürjet could be transformed into a platform that can meet the combat jet needs of many small-to-medium sized air forces in the world by providing a light attack capability that can be fully equivalent to the Gripen etc.

I've been coming across a lot of discussions lately, but for example the following ones are a bit more interesting.

Some British defense aviation enthusiasts are questioning how the Hurjet with if have british engine and some british avionics, can meet the needs of the UK's Royal air force in this area and where the Hürjet stands compared to other systems on the market.

Although I am not familiar with the details, I believe that Spain's ultimate goal is to have a configuration flexibility on the Hürjet that is incomparable to other aircraft in the tender. I think this can be one of the biggest advantage of the Hürjet over competing systems.

We need to finance a new EJ-200 variant because there is no EJ-200 variant for single-engine configuration. It can be arranged, but I doubt it will come cheap. We should accept the costs on the condition that those engines will be produced in Turkiye. TAEC can locally produce the engines. We should integrate it to Hurjet, twin-engine Kızılelma should have a single EJ-200 engine and the supersonic variant of Anka-3 should have a single EJ-200 as well. Those 3 platforms will require at least 500 engines and this investment will be lucrative.
