+1. I agree.

A TS-1400-based turboprop engine will be required. Because Canadians would never sell an engine for use on this aircraft.

If the command control of Hürkuş UCAV is done in such a way that the units on the ground can take over when necessary, it will be perfect for CAS duties.

Then there will be no more a freak aircraft!

IMHO studies on Hürkuş should continue. An unmanned CAS version might be a good move. Without the whole cockpit(Hürkuş-C has cockpit armor which weighs a lot), pilots, and life support systems, and with massive composite use, a huge amount of ammo can be carried on Hürkuş-C. Such a UCAV can carry multiple heavy bombs such as Mk-83 and Mk84. It should have a 5-8 hour endurance, a 2000kg+ payload, and a 500-600km/h speed which means it can travel 250-300km at half an hour to immediately strike a target with heavy bombs.

Hürkuş UCAV can fill a very specific role inside the Türkish UAV family.

TB-2 slow, very light payload (150kg), high endurance
Anka slow, light payload(350kg), high endurance
Aksungur slow, medium payload(750kg), very high endurance
Akıncı medium speed(350km/h), high payload(1500kg), high endurance
Hürkuş UCAV fast(500-600km/h), very high payload(2000kg), medium endurance (5 pylons for 4x Mk83+ 1xMAM-T or 1xMk84, 2xMk83, 2xMAM-T or 8x miniature bomb,1xMk84)
Mius-A high subsonic, high payload(1500kg), low to medium endurance
Mius-B supersonic, high payload(1500kg), low to medium endurance;
Mius-C concept
TISU concept.
Replace the pilot with a GAU-8 clone, just for funsies :D #maximumbrrrrrrrrrrrt

As you know TAI General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil visited JSC Tbilaviamsheni (Tbilisi Aircraft Manufacturing / TAM) company located in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Kotil examined the Su-25 aircraft on the line.

According to the information obtained, the parties in the meeting; They discussed future plans aimed at cooperation between Georgia and Turkey, establishing a joint venture and developing the military-aviation industry. After the T plant, the delegation inspected the JSC Tbilaviamsheni assembly plant, where the Su-25 aircraft were structurally and avionically modernized in accordance with modern standards.

JSC Tbilaviamsheni is currently an organization capable of producing and modernizing Su-25 fighter jets. The company has also developed a configuration of the Su-25 called 'Su-25KM' in accordance with NATO standards.

"In July of 2020, with the purpose of development of the Georgian aviation, Ministry of Defense of Georgia and JSC “TAM-Tbilisi Aircraft Manufacturing” signed an agreement that envisages modernization and overhaul of the Su-25 aircrafts belonging to the Georgian Defense Forces. The active phase of the aviation modernization was launched in August 2020 and major repair of aircrafts of the Georgian Defense Forces will be accomplished by the end of 2022. Along with the repair-modernization of the aircrafts the pilots and technical personnel is being retrained according to their specialties. "

"The training process of the personnel is supported by the partner countries."

Sukhoi of Russia, you need to differentiate from Sukhoi, hence

Kartal / eagle being the strongest predatory bird's family name.
Personally, I think the bird name should reflect the mission, so

Eagle, a very large bird with mainly ground prey would be nice for a large bomber.
Hawk, a semi-large bird with a mix of ground and air preys would be a nice name for a multi-role fighter.
Falcon, a super fast and agile bird with mainly other birds as prey would be a nice name for air-superiority fighter.
Owls, a small stealthy bird with ground prays would fit a smaller stealthy bomber, maybe TB2.
Albatross, is a high flying long endurance bird so some of the our future surveillance HALE drones might fit the bill.
Swallow, a small and agile bird feeding on insect would be nice for small tactical drones like MUIS.

So for Hurjet, I would recommend something in the line of TRX19 Hawk and for TF-X would be something like TRX19 Falcon.
X is some letter signifying the role, i.e. bomber, fighter, air-superiority, drone, ...
The number signifies the start of independence, and only for the 3rd generation of plane would use 23 to signify independence.
The number could obviously be some other important date but putting 23 on our first generation air-crafts it a bit premature in my mind.

With air to air and air to ground weapons ever improving, and as their ranges and capabilities exceeding most of the AD systems’ effective ranges, the future of the agile and highly manoeuvrable jet fighters may be questioned.
We need fast jets to get our bombs and weapons, quickly to the battlefield arena, and be able to leave the arena at speed.
We need agility and manoeuvrability to fight off other jet fighters and AD systems if and when the need arise.
If our radar and targeting system is very good and very long range, and we have a2a and air to ground missiles with ranges in excess of 400km, (especially if we can project hypersonic missiles to the battlefield), all we need is a “Mule” that can carry these weapons for us.
Agility and manoeuvrability will not disappear yet. But modern air warfare, with satellite imaging and extra long range sensor suites, is already changing.
Drones will play their part in this new scenario too.
Even planes like old F4 Phantoms in numbers, can be invaluable as “Mules” .
We have already reached a point where we will say ; “it is not important how good is our jet fighter, but how good the weapon it carries.”

We are not getting updates on TRMotor's MMU engine development program often enough but our most important program relies on this engine and it is actually our most critical program right now and possibly ever.

What do you guys think about having such fighters (Chinese FC-31) as a stop-gap until the TFX is ready
Rumors indicate that China is offering preparing domestic assembly lines for the countries interested in obtaining such an aircraft; couple that with its cheap price and I think it would be a decent stop-gap for Turkey until TFX roll-out

Opinions?


No time and money to buy alternatives. What Turkiye needs to do is to keep upgrading it’s F16 fleets and continue to develop MIUS, Hurjet and the TF-X.

That would be more than enough for the coming years.

What is so hard to understand; we use MIUS for many tasks and save on the service life of our F16 fleet.
Also Hürjet depends on the GE engine which may not arrive.
The engines for MIUS is smaller and much easier to make than the engines for large fighters.

Heck, even tb2s causes Greek f16s to take off. Then, they started tu arm texans as low cost alternative.
However, a manouverable subsonic drones with aa missiles without risking human life would make any manned plane pilots to worry.

The expectation and requirements of the Turkish Army from MIUS is different. You can see this in the design lines of drone itself and in the statements of the officials. Let's put aside the belief that this aircraft will "change the concept of air warfare", you can predict the what is requirements of the Turkish army by looking at the concept design of the aircraft.

As Mr. Selçuk stated, MIUS is being designed in a stealth form. The fact that the missile slots are taken in the fuselage, as in the 5th generation aircrafts, contributes to this stealth feature. The air intakes to the engine are on the sides of the fuselage aim to provide uninterrupted air intake in all maneuvers. Canards and vertical stabilizers are an additional features to meet the high maneuvering requirement. The large wing area will absorb more air and provide stability at low speeds. The high-thrust engine selection will provide the ability to reach supersonic speeds.

This system will be armed with a powerful AESA radar and BVR missiles and I can say that the aircraft that will emerge in this form will really change the concept of air warfare as it was stated.
