C-130B/E fleet is grounded as of yesterday until checks are completed.
Q/A from today's weekly briefing:
"1. Was ammunition carried on the aircraft?
Our aircraft was carrying personnel and aircraft maintenance supplies. There was no ammunition on board.
2. Is there any evidence as to the cause of the aircraft's crash?
It is too early to comment on this matter at this time. The cause of the incident will be clarified following the ongoing accident investigation.
3. Is it true that a helicopter was detected in the area on radar recordings at the same time?
It was a Georgian helicopter that went to the area after our aircraft crashed and attempted to make contact with our aircraft.
4. Is it true that an aircraft decommissioned by Saudi Arabia was purchased?
The aircraft in question was purchased from Saudi Arabia on January 21, 2012, and after completion of maintenance, it was added to the inventory in 2014. It was modernized and returned to service in 2022.
It has been in service with regular maintenance since then. However, as claimed, it is not a decommissioned aircraft by the user country, but rather a surplus aircraft. C-130 aircraft continue to be used by Saudi Arabia.
5. Was the downed aircraft old and poorly maintained?
There are no old aircraft, only poorly maintained aircraft. The aircraft in question are regularly maintained by our country. C-130 aircraft are currently in active use in more than 70 countries.
An examination of the downed aircraft's maintenance history reveals:
- The aircraft underwent Erciyes Avionics modernization, and scheduled airframe, engine, and propeller maintenance was completed on time.
- The last maintenance was performed between September 11 and October 12, 2025.
6. Is it true that the black box was brought to our country for examination?
The FDR (FLIGHT DATA RECORDER) and CVDR (COCKPIT VOICE DATA RECORDER) devices, known as the black boxes belonging to our downed aircraft, were brought to our country for examination and examined in Ankara.
7. Will the other C-130 aircraft in the inventory continue their flights?
Our aircraft have been grounded as a precautionary measure as of November 12, 2025. Flights will resume after all technical inspections and inspections have been completed."
